Abstract/Summary:
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement(RCEP)was officially launched on January 1,2022,and has extremely significant implications for the development of China’s agricultural trade. The significance of this study is that under the impact of the COVID-19 and other factors, the global trade has triggered a series of trade frictions.Through the study of RCEP,it not only provides strong guiding support for China’s agricultural trade and the effective resource allocation and risk management of other RCEP member countries in the international agricultural market, but also can further promote China’s regional economic construction.Based on the current situation of agricultural products in China, this article uses the 2014 GTAP 10th edition database and simulation analysis methods to set up three simulation schemes for analysis. The different impact effects of the three schemes after adding CPTPP,jointly adding CPTPP and RCEP,and implementing RCEP separately are analyzed and compared. The results obtained through this simulation analysis show that there is a linkage between non-tariff trade barriers and tariff trade barriers in RCEP on agricultural product trade, especially in terms of prices, social welfare, imports, exports, and other aspects of agricultural products in China. For example,in Scheme 1,the import and export of grains suffered certain losses. Finally, this article proposes policy recommendations for China to offset other adverse impacts such as CPTPP by establishing RCEP.
