Impact Of Digital Transformation On Innovation Performance Of Agricultural Enterprises From The Perspective Of Strategic Aggressiveness

At this stage,the integration rate of China’s digital economy and the real economy has been increasing,jointly promoting the rapid development of the national economy.Digital technology as the underlying infrastructure of the digital economy provides sufficient power for enterprise transformation and upgrading,accelerating the pace of China’s high-quality economic development.As an important strategic tool for enterprise development,digital transformation broadens the access to information and promotes the rational allocation of resource factors,promotes the transformation of production,service and operation processes,and helps enterprises reconstruct their competitive advantages.Innovation,as an important path for enterprises to move towards a new development path,helps optimize the enterprise management model and enhance the core competitiveness of enterprises,thus leading China to achieve high-quality development.Enterprises improve their innovation performance by carrying out digital transformation,which requires not only digital technology embedded in organizational structure,production process and operation mode.More importantly,enterprises need to consider the impact of strategic choices and deployment on the development of digital transformation and innovation.The selection of offensive,analytical or defensive strategies from high to low according to the degree of strategic aggressiveness is the key to effective digital transformation and innovation performance.As agriculture is the basic industry for China’s economic development,enabling digital transformation of agricultural enterprises is conducive to improving the low level of application of agricultural science and technology and helping agricultural enterprises to rejuvenate in the digital era.Firstly,this paper compares and analyzes the literature related to digital transformation,strategic aggressiveness and enterprise innovation performance,and uses dynamic capability theory,strategic alignment model theory and the theory of profiting from innovation as the theoretical basis of this paper to build a theoretical framework of the mechanism of the effect of digital transformation on enterprise innovation performance from the perspective of strategic aggressiveness.Secondly,the digital transformation of enterprises is introduced to measure as well as to describe the digital transformation characteristics of agricultural enterprises,and the constructed benchmark regression model and mediating effect model are empirically tested to explore the impact of digital transformation on innovation performance of agricultural enterprises and the mediating role of strategic aggressiveness,using Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed agricultural enterprises from 2010 to 2019.The results of the benchmark regression analysis show that:(1)digital transformation improves innovation performance of agricultural enterprises through direct effects,digital transformation can alleviate information asymmetry of enterprises and rational allocation of resources,support the resource elements required for technology and product development of enterprises,and thus promote innovation performance of agricultural enterprises.(2)Digital transformation enhances the strategic aggressiveness of agribusiness and leads companies to deploy analytical or offensive strategies.(3)the higher the degree of strategic aggressiveness,the more significant the contribution to agricultural enterprise innovation performance.The results of the intermediate effect test indicate that digital transformation positively affects agribusiness innovation performance by enhancing the strategic aggressiveness of firms,strengthening the grasp of market opportunities and the development of new technologies.Again,there is heterogeneity in the effect of digital transformation on innovation performance of agribusinesses at the industry,firm ownership nature,and firm size levels.Among the industry heterogeneity,digital transformation positively affects the innovation performance of plantation enterprises,while digital transformation does not significantly affect the innovation performance of forestry,livestock and fishery enterprises;compared with state-owned agricultural enterprises,digital transformation significantly promotes the innovation performance of non-state-owned agricultural enterprises,and the effect of digital transformation is better than that of state-owned agricultural enterprises.the larger the size of agricultural enterprises,the positive effect of digital transformation on the innovation performance of agricultural enterprises The larger the size of agricultural enterprises,the better the positive effect of digital transformation on innovation performance of agricultural enterprises.Finally,based on the above findings,this paper proposes corresponding countermeasures to promote digital transformation of agricultural enterprises to enhance innovation performance at the governmental level,industry level and enterprise level,respectively.
