Research On The Level Of Synergistic Development Within The Twin-city Economic Circle In Chengdu-chongqing Region

Urban agglomerations are the product of the transformation and development of the country’s industrialisation and urbanisation to an advanced stage.They are the main body of the country’s new urbanisation and the strategic core area for economic development,and play an irreplaceable and important role in promoting the development of China’s cities and towns.As one of the most important urban agglomerations in China,the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle consists of the entire Chongqing municipality and 15prefecture-level cities in Sichuan province,and has the potential to develop into the fourth pole of China’s economic growth.Despite its huge development potential,the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle must face up to the problems that exist in its development.Compared to the more mature urban agglomerations in China,the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle still has a large gap in terms of economic aggregates and integration levels;the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle has a typical "big city + big rural area" character,and the development imbalance is particularly obvious.The unbalanced development phenomenon is particularly obvious.In view of the above facts,this study focuses on how to measure the level of synergistic development of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region,analyse its influencing factors,and propose policy recommendations accordingly.This paper is divided into five chapters,of which.Chapter 1 is the introduction,which mainly discusses the theoretical and practical significance of this study,compares domestic and international papers on urban agglomerations,regional synergistic development and the synergistic development of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region,and introduces the ideas and innovative points of this study’s development.Chapter 2 is the theoretical foundation,which mainly introduces the connotation and characteristics of regional collaborative development and the theories involved in regional collaborative development,and provides theoretical support for the article.Chapter 3 is the analysis of the current situation and existing problems in the study area,which introduces the overview of the study area and the current situation of the synergistic development,and analyses the existing problems of the synergistic development in the study area to further explain the significance of the empirical evidence.Chapter 4 presents the empirical analysis,which mainly evaluates the level of synergistic development of the urban agglomerations by constructing a comprehensive index system,analyzing the influencing factors by using a geographic detector,and predicting the development trend of synergistic development of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region in the next ten years by using a grey prediction model.Chapter 5 is the conclusion and research outlook,which mainly summarizes the conclusions of the empirical part,and composes the shortcomings of the current research and the outlook for future research.The results of the study show that the synergistic development of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region can be roughly divided into two stages during the study period: in the first stage from 2005 to 2013,there was no obvious pattern of upward and downward fluctuations in the degree of synergy,and from 2014 to 2019,there was an obvious upward trend.The number of patent applications,the number of new enterprises and total GDP have been at a high level in explaining the synergy of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region;among the sub-regions,the entropy of the location of the secondary industry and the total GDP are at a high level in explaining the synergy;the results of the interaction detector show that The results of the interaction detector show that the interaction of influencing factors within the urban agglomeration is mainly enhanced;the simulation results of the grey prediction model show that in the next ten years,the synergy degree of each city within the urban agglomeration mostly tends to increase,and only Ziyang has a decreasing trend.
