With the decline of non-renewable resources such as oil in the world,as well as the increasing climate and environmental problems, governments of various countries have begun to focus on energy conservation and emission reduction, and formulate sustainable development strategies. As a key development project of the new energy industry, new energy vehicles have attracted worldwide attention, and various countries have begun to join the ranks of new energy vehicle research and production.Chinese new energy vehicles development is relatively late, but with the advantages of resources and huge market potential, our country’s new energy vehicle industry has developed rapidly.Since its deployment in 1991,China has formed a preliminary new energy vehicle industry. Our country has achieved relatively good results in the domestic market and topped the sales list in 2015.However,for the international market, the competitiveness of our country’s new energy vehicles is slightly insufficient. This paper analyzes the international competitiveness of Chinese new energy vehicle industry through the understanding and analysis of the relevant theories of industrial competition, using the grey relational analysis method,Porter’s "diamond model" and other methods.First of all,the background of this paper, the research on new energy vehicles and the international competitiveness of the industry domestic and overseas, and the research contents are introduced.Secondly, the definitions of new energy vehicles and the international competitiveness of the industry are sorted out,and the theory of comparative advantage and other theories involved in the paper are summarized, and the industrial international competitiveness indicators of the current automobile industry and the new energy vehicle industry are listed respectively.system.Furthermore,this paper analyzes the current sales volume, charging pile situation in China and the situation of car companies in our country’s domestic market, and compares it with the competition of the new energy vehicle industry in EU countries such as USA,Japan,Germany and other EU countries, and summarizes China’s new energy vehicle industry. Then, using the Porter diamond model as the theoretical basis,it makes a qualitative analysis of our country’s new energy vehicle industry from six elements,to pave the way for the follow-up empirical research. In terms of empirical evidence, this paper establishes an evaluation index system for the international competitiveness of our country’s new energy vehicle industry on the basis of following the principles and basis for establishing evaluation indicators. The empirical part selects 8 countries with strong new energy vehicle industry, such as China,USA,Japan, and Germany,to compare the overall competitiveness of the industry. In the end, through empirical results, the following conclusions are drawn:China’s comprehensive strength ranks among the highest in the world, but its international trade competitiveness ranks almost at the bottom. It can be seen that China’s new energy vehicle production capacity has been consolidated, but its main target group is still concentrated in the country.Although China’s new energy vehicles have outstanding performance in comprehensive competitiveness, their shortcomings are also very obvious.Excessive domestic market competition will not only consume the resources of domestic enterprises, but also cause China to gradually lose the international market for new energy vehicles. The reason is that there is no relatively complete industrial system and no related export incentive policies have been formed,so relevant suggestions are given in the conclusion section.
