| Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy has grown rapidly,and its achievements have attracted worldwide attention.As the world’s largest manufacturing country and the second largest economy,China is playing an increasingly important role on the world stage.However,behind the economy increasing,the cost of extensive and extended development has become more and more obvious,and the ecological environment has been severely damaged.As one of the most economically developed regions in China,the Yangtze River Delta region faces equally severe environmental pollution problems.Therefore,the implementation of effective environmental regulations is of great significance to the future economy development of the Yangtze River Delta region.With the increasing intensity of environmental regulation,how to deal with the relationship between economy growth and environmental protection is a difficult problem for the local government.In order to realize the simultaneous development of economy growth and environmental protection in the Yangtze River Delta region,it is necessary to clarify the ways in which environmental regulation affects economy growth,so as to explore and improve appropriate environmental regulation policies.First of all,this thesis defines the concepts of regulation and environmental regulation,distinguishes between different types of regulation and environmental regulation tools,and sorts out the research results of many scholars in the field of environmental regulation and economy growth,and summarizes the relationship between environmental regulation and economy growth.The main point of view of the relationship is focused on the following three points;supporting the "compliance cost theory",agreeing that environmental regulations force enterprises to increase production costs,thereby inhibiting economy growth;supporting the "innovation compensation theory",agreeing that environmental regulations will prompt enterprises to focus on products and products.Technological innovation of production process,thereby improving its own core competitiveness,thereby promoting economy growth;supports the theory of uncertainty,arguing that the relationship between environmental regulation and economy growth is not a simple linear relationship,the key lies in whether the increased production cost affected by environmental regulation can be It is offset or surpassed by the additional benefits generated by the technological innovation of the enterprise it triggers.Secondly,this thesis explores the specific mechanism by which environmental regulation affects regional economy growth from four different perspectives:environmental cost,technological innovation,industrial structure and international trade,and on this basis,conducts empirical research.Based on the panel data of 41 cities in three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta region from 2004 to2019,a fixed effect model was established,and the mediation effect and threshold effect of the technological innovation were verified.Finally,this thesis mainly draws the following conclusions: First,the environmental problems in the Yangtze River Delta region are still severe,and the government needs to further increase the intensity of environmental regulation,and adjust relevant environmental regulation policies in a timely and targeted manner;The economy growth of China has played a significant positive role in promoting,and improving the level of human capital and infrastructure construction will help promote the economy growth of the Yangtze River Delta region;third,environmental regulation can not only directly affect the economy growth of the Yangtze River Delta region,but also through the Technological innovation indirectly promotes economy growth in the Yangtze River Delta;fourth,raising the level of technological innovation to a certain level will weaken the role of environmental regulation in promoting economy growth in the Yangtze River Delta region.Combined with the above conclusions,this thesis puts forward the following policy suggestions: First,actively promote the coordinated management of the ecological environment in the Yangtze River Delta region;second,improve the laws and regulations related to environmental protection in the Yangtze River Delta region;third,promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region. |
