With the official selection of street dance for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games,it marks that hip-hop activities that emerged in New York City,USA,have gained worldwide attention and recognition.The entry of street dance into the Paris Olympics proves that the niche culture that was once marginalized has achieved a new development in the continuous collision with mainstream culture.In February2018,the Youku platform dance variety show "Street Dance of China" was officially launched,and by 2022,the fifth season of the show was launched for 1 hour,and the viewership share of the whole network market of variety shows reach45%,,accounting for nearly half of the total,and the popularity has endured for a long time.With the help of Youku’s self-made variety show platform,street dance culture has gradually entered the public’s field of vision from being popular on the streets of the city.Therefore,the spread of youth subculture represented by street dance deserves to be re-examined and reconsidered.The communication research on "Street Dance of China" from the perspective of subculture theory discussed in this paper focuses on how the program constructs and spreads the niche culture of street dance,so that it can gradually dissolve its own rebellious characteristics in the context of mass media,and enhance public recognition and acceptance through "style" reconstruction.The author mainly refers to the "5W" theory of Lasswell to build a research framework,and uses the literature method,textual analysis method and questionnaire survey method to conduct an in-depth analysis of the youth subculture communication of all 60 episodes of the five seasons of "Street Dance of China" from the aspects of communication subject,content,channel,audience and effect.Based on the research results of the youth subculture of "style,resistance,and inclusion" of the British Birmingham School,the characteristics of the "style" shaping of street dance culture in the program are interpreted.On the whole,the construction strategy of the program’s communication of street dance culture is more in line with the characteristics of "ideological integration" and "commercial integration" mentioned by the Birmingham School,realizing the mutual achievement of capital and culture and the rational dialogue between mainstream and marginal,and effectively using the communication power of the youth group to meet the emotional demands of the group.Finally,after inductive analysis,the following communication path suggestions are proposed: reasonable guidance and interpretation,cultivation of correct cultural identity;Balancing business and responsibility to enhance the value of cultural capital;Optimize practice scenarios to meet diverse cultural consumption needs;and deeply cultivate cultural fit to create a common cultural decoding space.The style reshaping of subculture is not achieved overnight,and it needs to be adapted to China’s mainstream value aesthetics after long-term practice.For a variety show based on the theme of street dance,it is inevitable that it is impossible to rely solely on the variety show content itself to complete the publicity and popularization of street dance culture.Insisting on high-quality content,using the program as a carrier to present a good first impression of the program to the audience,and achieving correct cultural guidance is an important starting point.In addition,in order to achieve the sustainable development of Chinese street dance culture,it is necessary to deeply cultivate the road of integration with local mainstream culture,adapt to the current context,and achieve a common cultural cognitive space.At the same time,it is inseparable from the comprehensive support of offline social scenes,so that youth subcultures can go out of the mass media and truly return to the cultural consumption needs of public life,and finally the cultural value of the program can be gradually realized.
