Research On The Media Presentation Of Transgenic Issues From The Perspective Of Scientific Communication

Genetically modified(GM)has been controversial since its appearance.Except in the fields of medicine,industry,agriculture,environmental protection,energy,etc.,GM news reports,as a branch of scientific communication,have a situation that the media,researchers and audiences are talking to themselves.As a communication bridge,the media can really serve as a link to improve the scientific literacy of the public in China only by assuming the responsibility and obligation of scientific communication.Based on this,this study uses the research methods of frame theory and discourse analysis to study the news reports on genetically modified topics in three mainstream newspapers in different fields during the seven years from January 1,2015 to December 31,2021,so as to explore the advantages and disadvantages of the media in the presentation of frame and discourse in scientific communication,and put forward suggestions for future scientific communication in China.Through the frame analysis of the news texts in the corpus,this study concludes that the number of Chinese media in the process of scientific communication is decreasing,the layout distribution is uneven,the content positioning is different,the elite discourse becomes the main source of reports,the theme of reports is mainly landmark events,and the framework and discussion mode are diversified.Through the study of discourse presentation of news texts,it is found that there are differences in the subdivision of text,discourse practice and social practice in genetically modified reports of newspapers with different positioning.Among them,the news texts have obvious differences in the subdivision of report titles,the news genre is dominated,discourse rhetoric and quotation are the main methods to explain scientific content,and there are some characteristics in the discourse,such as overemphasizing the speaker’s expression meaning,hiding the speaker’s intention through presupposition,and constructing meta-discourse on the subject identity.Social practical significance such as identity shaping,social conflict coordination,public literacy improvement and public opinion supervision through news texts;Through the analysis of news photos,it is found that there are some problems in Chinese media’s transgenic reports,such as weak expression of public discourse,improper social function of media,weakened in-depth interpretation of scientific knowledge and content,and narrow dissemination content.By studying the frame mode,discourse presentation and noverbal in transgenic science communication,this paper puts forward some suggestions on strengthening multi-subject media expression,focusing on the professional training of scientific communicators,deepening the visual expression and in-depth interpretation of scientific content,and broadening the areas of concern in China’s scientific communication in the future.
