Since the reform and opening up,private museums have gradually grown and developed into an important part of China’s museum cause, and under the influence of the ideal ambition and educational cognition of their curators, they have taken the initiative to provide educational resources to the society, actively participate in social educational activities and give full play to the educational function of museums. This study takes the curators of small private museums as the research object, under the guidance of the methodology of narrative research, and through semi-structured interviews, this study reveals how they have gradually developed from collectors to watchers and transmitters of culture, and realize the social function of educational preservation, transmission and even creation of human culture in the museum educational practice. This study uses the relevant theories in material culture studies as tools to explore the changes of the relationship between people and things in the process of experience, and analyze the educational value and educational meaning of small private museums from the perspective of cultural situationThis study is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which defines the origin of the research, related literature review and research scheme. The second chapter describes the creation of three small private museums, from which collectors are transformed into museum directors, and analyzes the process of transformation from "objects" to "museum objects" with the help of the theory of museumization. The third chapter describes the experience process of the curator becoming a cultural watcher, and analyzes the cultural significance of "museum objects" in the cultural practice of curators with the help of the theoretical paradigm of "cultural biography of things".The fourth chapter describes the experience process of the curator becoming a cultural transmitter in museum education practice, and explores the cultural transmission function of education to "museum objects" with the help of "physical learning","narration and performance of objects".The fifth chapter carries on the research conclusion, future prospect and research reflection. It is found that personal motivation and social motivation are involved in the creation of small private museums, which reflects the influence of time background and social culture. The family upbringing, the educational bias of learning skills and the emotional sustenance of the soviet complex make collectors have special feelings for some objects of special value.Under the choice of system, individual and emotion, the ordinary "thing" is transformed into "museum object" through musealization behavior. In the cultural practice and value judgment, the curator changed from the dedication to the collection hobby to the adherence to the collection culture.Through self-learning driven by endogenous power, cultural awakening under the social crisis and gradually in-depth social communication, they realize that "museum objects" have important social life and cultural significance, and take inheritance and watchfulness as their own responsibility, which has become their spiritual motivation to persist in running the museum and opening up to the society. In this process, the curators establishes their self-identity and culture absorbing through cultural collection, which means there is always a sense of social responsibility behind his personal interests to undertake cultural inheritance and social enlightenment. After that, under the strategies of choice and communication, narration and performance, the curators realize the cultural transmission function of "museum objects" through museum educational practice, which is a social educational process from collection hobby to cultural watch, and then to cultural transmission. At the same time, the curators integrate the educational concept formed in the process of growth in educational practice. They attach importance to the cultivation of interest in learning, will to struggle and aesthetic accomplishment.Besides, they also emphasize the public education of the community, reshape the function of museum education,so as to broaden the significance of museum education.
