The construction of public libraries affects the level of civilisation and spirituality of citizens and reflects the level of public cultural services in the city.Knowledge services are now becoming one of the main services of public libraries,providing the knowledge that users need,guided by their needs.The world’s four major Bay Areas are leaders in leading economic progress,technological change and world development,and the Bay Area’s strong innovation mechanism has led to the rapid development of public library knowledge services in the Bay Area.Therefore,the research and comparative study of the current situation of knowledge services in public libraries in famous bay areas in China and abroad is highly representative and has implications for the development of knowledge services and the improvement of library service capacity in public libraries in China.In this paper,16 public libraries in the world’s four major bay areas are selected as research objects,and the research and comparative study on the current situation of knowledge services is carried out in six aspects,namely,basic library information,service resources,reference advisory services,personalised mobile knowledge services,new media knowledge service marketing and special spatial knowledge services,through the network survey method.The study found that:the level of knowledge services of public libraries in the four bay areas is high.This is mainly reflected in the large number of library premises and strong service radiation capacity;rich literature resources,high overall quality of service personnel and strong financial guarantee capacity;many reference consultation service items and high service efficiency;diverse functions of personalised mobile knowledge service platforms and exclusive library APPs with personalised functions;emphasis on the construction of new media platform accounts,high account activity,high frequency of knowledge pushing and large number of fans;characteristic space knowledge The service content is rich and diverse,and the service relies on local special culture and new technology.Based on the results of the research,the strategies for enhancing knowledge services in public libraries are proposed,including improving the quality of service personnel and enhancing service awareness;enhancing the capacity of reference consultation services and ensuring the effectiveness of reference consultation services;innovating knowledge services,taking into account mobile and personalisation;attaching importance to the construction of new media service platforms and strengthening the promotion of knowledge services;and relying on distinctive culture and new technologies to strengthen the knowledge services in distinctive spaces.To provide reference for the development of knowledge services in China’s public libraries and promote the development of China’s cultural undertakings.
