With the speeding up of Chinese urbanization,the construction of Chinese city subway also enters a booming period of development.As of February 2022,China has become the country with the largest number of metro cities.As the underground artery of the city,the flowing space of the subway connects various fixed spaces in the city,affecting the planning,production,distribution and use of urban space,and exerting a spatial influence.The role of time also exerts a "moisturizing and silent" influence on citizens in many aspects of politics,economy and culture.From the perspective of communication,the subway is not just a means of transportation for a city.It carries the cultural connotation of the city,entrusts the rich emotions of the citizens,and makes an important contribution to urban communication.Incorporating the subway into the communication research of the physical space fits the spatial turn of communication research and broadens the research horizon of this field.This paper uses research methods such as participatory observation,in-depth interviews,and text analysis to examine the influence of the subway as a space medium on urban culture and social development from the perspective of urban communication through the case of the Qingdao Metro,and the impact of these influences The political,capital and cultural drivers that make it happen.The full text is divided into three parts,as follows:First of all,from the perspective of the attribute characteristics of the media,combined with the basic situation of Qingdao Metro,it is defined that the subway belongs to the space media,which can store and disseminate information,can be perceived by human senses,and provide people with the function of contact and communication.Secondly,based on Lefebvre’s "three-dimensional space theory",this paper makes an in-depth study of the two-way interaction form of urban power reflected in the three directions of physical space,conceptual space and social space.On the one hand,from the three dimensions of politics,capital and culture,the subway space,as a medium,is analyzed.Like newspapers,television and other media that the public is accustomed to,it also has political attributes and presents the characteristics of various communication subjects in the interaction and balance of various forces.On the other hand,from the perspective of subway passengers such as urban residents and tourists,the three feedback forms of positive acquisition,habituation and intention to break free from the subway information dissemination of subway passengers are analyzed,and how people create and communicate in the space of the subway is discussed.Express your own value and participate in the daily life of the city.Finally,it discusses how the subway realizes the spatial reproduction,and how space,media technology and people participate in shaping the relationship between people and people,and between people and society in modern cities in the space medium of subway.Based on Lefebvre’s "three-element space theory" research,this paper analyzes the three manifestations of the subway as a space medium:as a physical subway space,its space-time compression effect shortens the distance between the main city and the auxiliary city.As an urban conception space,the subway is a symbol of urbanization,implying the living conditions of urbanites in their target planning;as an autonomous and dynamic experience space,the subway shows the different adaptation methods of urban residents.Further,it is found that as a space medium,subway not only has the same function of information transmission as radio waves and digital media,but also becomes the material carrier of emotional memory and cultural inheritance in communication activities through the forms of"place","tool" and "body".The interactive integration of virtual and real space and the deconstruction of the traditional concept of time and space promote the research of urban communication towards the material property of the medium.Finally,this paper also makes a preliminary discussion on the possible direction of the subway as a space medium in the future urban development.
