As represented by open space electronic media, LED big screen is a radical challenge to the traditional concept of TV. It also turns to the cultural landscape of the new communication technologies by a new way. LED big screen not only has a wild market of new technology, but also influences deeply to the urban space in the cultural field. However, in the past, we lack of the spatial perspective of communication and media study, in both theoretical explanation and case studies. Therefore, form the path of space theory, studying the social impact of communication and media is significant to theoretical research. It also has important practical significance to enhance the awareness of the trend and development of traditional TV even the whole media industry promoted by the new media.The thesis use the qualitative research method, such as, case studies, in-depth interviews, participant observation, studying how the new media LED big screen reconstruct the urban space, focusing on three aspects:first, what changes does the big screen bring to us leading by the urban form, structure and function under the new media technology environment? How big screen builds a new relationship among the mass media, urban space and urban life? Second, as a new media platform, how big screen constructs a new cultural community through the reconstruction to the urban space? What new function and cultural significance does big screen have? What kind of expressing opportunities will the big screen provide? Third, try to explore the future development prospects of big screen.
