With the introduction of the "Labor Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education" in 2022,the country has made specific requirements for the implementation of labor courses in junior high schools,and has also proposed that schools should work together with families(parents)to carry out labor education during the implementation process of labor courses.On the one hand,the richness of the content of junior high school labor courses runs through students’ entire lives.As an important role in connecting students’ learning and life,parents play an important role in involving in the implementation of labor courses and assisting teachers in promoting the development of labor courses.On the other hand,middle school students are in a critical period of forming labor literacy,and parental involvement is also conducive to guiding middle school students to closely connect the knowledge learned in labor courses with their family life and social practice needs,promoting the comprehensive development of middle school students.However,the current situation of parental involvement in junior high school labor courses is not optimistic,and problems such as weak awareness and insufficient involvement ability of parents restrict their involvement in the implementation of labor courses.This study analyzes the current situation of parental involvement in the implementation of middle school labor courses at G Middle School in Guangzhou,analyzes the problems that exist in the process of parental involvement in labor courses,and proposes solutions to these problems.It is hoped to provide theoretical support and practical reference for parental involvement in the implementation of middle school labor courses.During the internship at G Middle School in Guangzhou,author observed the current situation of parental involvement in the implementation of labor courses on the spot,and conducted a questionnaire survey on the current situation of 276 parents in the implementation of labor courses at G Middle School in Guangzhou.Based on the survey results,three teachers from the school and six parents of students were invited to conduct semi-structured interviews.The results of the study show that there are the following problems in the implementation of labor curriculum for parents at G Middle School in Guangzhou:(1)In terms of involvement awareness,parents have weak involvement awareness and one-sided understanding of the home-school cooperation relationship;(2)In terms of involvement content: parents involve in labor curriculum content is not comprehensive and tend to involve in content with low requirements for labor skills;(3)In terms of involvement methods: Parents tend to involve in a low-level manner,lacking initiative in the involvement process,and fathers have a lack of involvement phenomenon;(4)In terms of involvement effectiveness: Parents prioritize skill guidance over quality education in their children’s labor education,lacking effective communication and cooperation with teachers.In response to the above issues,this study analyzes the reasons from four levels:parents,schools,teachers,and society:(1)at the parent level: parents’ ideological and educational concepts are backward;Insufficient educational ability of parents;Limited time and energy for parents to involve;(2)At the school level: the labor curriculum content lacks reasonable planning;The school provides limited guidance and support for parental involvement;The effectiveness of implementing school labor courses lacks effective evaluation;(3)At the teacher level: Teachers lack awareness of home-school collaboration.;Teachers lack sufficient professional skills in labor courses;Teachers lack communication skills for home-school collaboration.;(4)At the social level: the support from the education administrative department is insufficient,and the labor education resources provided by society are limited.Based on the above reasons,this study proposes the following improvement measures:(1)At the parent level: enhance parents’ ideological and educational concepts;enhance parents’ educational abilities;flexibly arrange parents to involve in the implementation of labor courses;(2)At the school level: Reasonably plan the content of labor curriculum implementation;provide effective guidance and support for parents to participate;establish a comprehensive evaluation system for labor curriculum implementation;(3)At the teacher level: enhancing teachers’ sense of cooperation;enhancing teachers’ professional labor skills;enhancing teachers’ home-school collaboration skills;(4)At the social level: strengthen the support of the education administrative department and provide social labor education resources from multiple sources.
