With the increasingly deepening of education reform,the cultivation of student’s critical thinking ability has received widespread attention.Senior high school is a critical period to cultivate student’s critical thinking ability,and the teaching of expository essays is an effective way to cultivate thisability.As a key element of high school Chinese teaching,the cultivation of student’s critical thinking ability is not only the need to implement the requirements of Chinese education reform,but also can effectively improve student’s comprehensive ability.Thus,this paper analyzes and discusses the cultivation of student’s critical thinking ability in high school Chinese teaching,hoping to promote the development of expository essays teaching in high school and the improvement of student’s critical thinking ability.The paper is divided into the following seven parts:The first part is the introduction which mainly introduces the origin of this paper,the significance and the current situation of the study as well as the research method.The second part is a theoretical overview of the teaching of expository essays in high school Chinese and the cultivation of critical thinking ability,which mainly includes the definition of core concepts and theoretical basis.The third part is an analysis of the necessity and feasibility of cultivating student’s critical thinking skill in teaching Argumentation in high school.The analysis of necessity is carried out mainly from two aspects: the direction of the high school Chinese curriculum standards and the teaching choice under the reform of the college entrance examination proposition.The feasibility analysis is conducted from two aspects,namely,the rich speculativeness of high school Chinese and the uniqueness of high school student’s thinking development.In the fourth part,paper explores the current situation of the cultivation of critical ability in the teaching of expository essays as well as reasons of the problems.The result shows that the the lack of ability of text analysis,critical question,logical reasoning and summary and evaluation are main problems in the cultivatio of student’s critical thinking ability in the teaching of expository essays.The fifth part is the key chapter of this paper.In this part this paper elaborates the strategies for cultivating critical thinking ability in teaching discourse texts in high school Chinese.Firstly is the strategy of cultivating student’s text analysis ability.When training student’s text analysis ability,teachers should start from the point of view,structure and argumentative methods of expository texts.Secondly is the strategy of developing student’s logical reasoning ability.Teacher schould incorporate the necessary logical knowledge and use thinking maps and thinking models to develop student’ s logical reasoning ability.Thirdly,this paper proposes strategies for devloping students’ critical question skills.Teachers should develop students’ critical questioning skills by setting up cognitive conflicts,setting up questions to provoke doubts and guiding students to weigh in a comprehensive way.Finally,strategies are proposed to devlop student’s summarizing and evaluating ability.Teachers should grasp the key of expository texts and develop student’s summarizing and evaluating ability through interactive discussion and linking to the text.The sixth part is a teaching case design of developing student’s critical thinking ability in teaching discursive texts in high school Chinese.The teaching design is used to verify the feasibility and and scientificity of the strategy of developing student’s critical thinking ability in discursive texts,so as to improve the teaching efficiency of developing students’ critical thinking ability in teaching discursive texts in high school CHinese.The seventh part is the conclusion which mainly summarizes this study,points out the shortcomings in this study,and provides an outlook for future research on developing student’s critical thinking skills in the teaching of expository essays.
