Electronic and communication equipment manufacturing is one of the most dynamic, innovative and permeable technology fields in China, which plays an important strategic position and significance in promoting smart manufacturing and accelerating the construction of an industrialized country.Industrial agglomeration is the main trend of the development of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry, and the innovation ability is its primary driving force. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to understand the characteristics of industrial agglomeration in electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry and explore the impact of regional innovation capability, which is highly valued by the industry.Firstly, based on relevant domestic and foreign research literature, the study sorted out the basic theory of industrial agglomeration effect and innovation ability, and determined the research method of the study.Secondly, the location entropy index method is used to measure the industrial agglomeration level of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry, and the entropy weight method is used to calculate the comprehensive score of regional innovation ability by giving weight to the five innovation indicators of investment level, talent input level, market output level, economic output level and knowledge output level. The spatial and temporal characteristics of industrial agglomeration level and regional innovation capability level of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry are analyzed.Thirdly, global moran index and local Moran index are used to test the spatial autocorrelation of regional innovation capability, and time-fixed spatial Durbin model is used to analyze the impact of industrial agglomeration on regional innovation capability of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The industrial structure of each province in China is very different, and the development degree of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry is different.(2)The industrial agglomeration level of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry shows obvious spatial agglomeration characteristics among provinces, and the provinces with the highest industrial agglomeration level are concentrated in Shanghai,Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Anhui and Guangdong.(3)The level of innovation input and innovation output showed a significant growth trend from 2009 to 2019(except 2017).(4)There is a positive spatial correlation between provincial innovation capability in China. In terms of spatial distribution,high-high value regions are mainly concentrated in Shandong province,Tianjin City,Jiangsu Province,Zhejiang Province,Shanghai and other eastern coastal provinces.(5)Industrial agglomeration of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry can promote the growth of regional innovation capability. If the industrial agglomeration of electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry increases by 1%,it can promote the growth of regional innovation capability by 0.424%.(6)The level of opening to the outside world is an important factor affecting the level of regional innovation ability.Industrial competition index and transportation convenience level help to improve the level of regional innovation ability, while education level and economic development level have little and insignificant effect on regional innovation ability.Based on the above theoretical analysis and empirical research conclusions, the study puts forward countermeasures and suggestions in order to give full play to the role of industrial agglomeration in electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry in promoting regional innovation.
