| As the largest and most innovative group in China, the healthy growth of private enterprises is of great significance to constructing a new development pattern and promoting high-quality development of our economy. However,as China’s economy enters a new normal, new conditions and forces are reshaping the growth path. Moreover, the accumulated problems of the industrialization period intertwine and stir, and some of the essential problems brought about by the "social transformation" have also begun to emerge. In recent years,a series of natural disasters, trade frictions, epidemics and other uncertain emergencies have exacerbated the dynamic nature of the business environment, posing a potentially unpredictable and serious threat to the sustainable development of "small and weak" and under-resourced private enterprises. As a result, the importance of the resilience of private enterprises in coping with adverse events is increasingly prominent. To gain a deeper understanding of the origin and cultivation mechanism of corporate resilience,we introduce the social psychological feeling and reaction of private entrepreneurs as a "barometer" and "indicator" of social conflicts into the research model, based on the upper echelons theory and broaden-and-build theory. We investigate its influence on corporate resilience and examine the role of entrepreneurial psychological resilience as a mediator.Specifically,we focus on the chain of "influencing factor-process-outcome" to explore the possible mediating role of entrepreneurial psychological resilience in the relationship between social mentality and corporate resilience. In addition,to further explore the boundary conditions of corporate resilience,we introduce environmental dynamism into the model based on the conservation of resource theory,to explore its moderating role in the relationship between entrepreneurial psychological resilience and corporate resilience. We used a questionnaire method to survey 408 private entrepreneurs in the Yangtze River Delta and other regions. The data were tested for reliability, validity and common method bias using data analysis software such as SPSS 26.0,AMOS 24.0,and MPLUS 8.3.Hypotheses were tested by using correlation analysis, structural equation modeling, and latent moderated structural equation. The findings indicate that(1)private entrepreneurs’ social mentality, including dimensions of life satisfaction, trust in government, sense of social justice, and sense of social security, positively affects corporate resilience;(2)psychological resilience plays a partially mediating role in the influential relationship between private entrepreneurs’ social mentality and corporate resilience;(3)environmental dynamics not only positively moderates the relationship between private entrepreneurs’ psychological resilience and corporate resilience, but also moderates the mediating role of psychological resilience between private entrepreneurs’ social mentality and corporate resilience. In other words, the higher the environmental dynamics, the stronger the indirect influence of private entrepreneurs’ social mentality on corporate resilience through psychological resilience.Based on the results of the empirical study,we discuss and interpret the findings, and suggest corresponding countermeasures for both government and private enterprises to forge corporate resilience. At the government level, attention should be paid to the needs of enterprises and the improvement of the support system;a regular government-enterprise communication and consultation mechanism should be established;the business environment should be optimized and fair competition promoted;legal escort should be carried out,and public opinion guidance implemented. At the level of private enterprises, entrepreneurs should fully understand the value of the resilience factor, pay attention to the assessment and cultivation of psychological resilience, respond positively to the dynamics of the external environment, and actively explore the potential opportunities behind the crisis. |
