| Model-making interdisciplinary practical activities refer to the application of concepts, methods and ideas from biology, physics, technology and engineering to specific biological content, the selection of appropriate materials, the design and production of models, the visual representation of the corresponding structure and function, and the enhancement of students’ investigative and practical skills. As a science that observes life phenomena and explores the laws of life activities, there are many microscopic abstract structures or life activities that students cannot observe with the naked eye in the learning process, and modelling represents a great advantage for students to overcome their understanding of microscopic structures. In the process of modelling, there are close links with knowledge from many other disciplines as well as students’ life experiences.Learning to use interdisciplinary knowledge to scientifically construct biological models has positive practical significance and value for students in solving problems in real-life situations. In this paper, the author uses junior high school biology textbooks as the main basis to design and implement relevant model-making interdisciplinary practical activities, and to explore ways and means to carry out model-making interdisciplinary practical activities for the reference of front-line biology teachers. This study consists of three main parts: the first part adopts the literature research method to search and sort out and analyse the relevant literature on biology model-making activities and interdisciplinary practical activities at home and abroad;the second part adopts the interview method and questionnaire survey method to understand the current application status and demand for biology model-making interdisciplinary practical activities in junior high schools. The third part adopts the action research method to sort out the cases of junior high school biology textbooks about model-making interdisciplinary practical activities from the educational reality, and conduct a systematic study on the teaching mode and implementation principles of model-making interdisciplinary practical activities, and finally combine the case design and implementation with the instructor’s suggestions and data collection, based on which the conclusion and outlook of this study are given. The results of this study show that the implementation of model-making-type interdisciplinary practical activities has a facilitating effect on the teaching and learning of junior secondary school biology in four ways: firstly,it enhances students’ interest in learning;secondly,it promotes the development of students’ comprehensive abilities;thirdly,it cultivates students’ sense of innovation and inquisitiveness;and fourthly,it promotes the development of teachers from a single disciplinary background into integrated new-age teachers. At the same time, this paper puts forward a few reasonable suggestions to address the problems in the implementation of model-making interdisciplinary practical activities. |
