| Interdisciplinary practice is a learning activity in which students actively participate,take initiative to explore,and comprehensively employ concepts and ways of thinking from two or more disciplines to resolve practical problems in real-world situations.Interdisciplinary practice activities dedicated to enhancing students’ core literacy have broken down disciplinary barriers and played an important part in addressing complex and integrated real problems for students.Based on the background of interdisciplinary education and teaching reform practice of basic biology education,with the comprehensive practical activities of junior high school biology as a carrier,to carry out case study design and empirical research on interdisciplinary comprehensive practical activities in junior high school biology based on the "7E" teaching model,in order to provide reference for the construction of interdisciplinary comprehensive practical activities that highlights the status of subject,focuses on the students’ experience and practice and core literacy.This study was guided by Dewey’s theory of education and the theory of problembased instruction,focusing on the core concepts of junior high school biology,integrating knowledge from different subjects for scientific inquiry and interdisciplinary practice.The questionnaire survey had found that the prevalence of comprehensive practical activities in junior high school biology was low,the content of activity inquiry was procedural and superficial,and the connection between different subjects and the link between subject knowledge and real-life practice were neglected.With the goal of enhancing the students’ core literacy,the “7E” teaching model was integrated with a real situations were created in seven stages-Elicit,Engage,Explore,Explain,Elaborate,Exchange and Evaluate,so as to stimulate the students’ cognitive conflicts and guide them to solve practical problems through a problem-oriented approach.In addition,the students were given four themes comprehensive practical activities,the themes of making plant ornaments with epoxy resin was related to biology,chemistry and aesthetics;the themes of measuring energy in food was related to biology,physics and chemistry;the themes of making preserved fresh flowers was related to biology,aesthetics and chemistry;the themes of making rice wine out of dragon fruit was related to biology and chemistry,and were evaluated in a diversified way,constructed detailed cases study of interdisciplinary integrated practical activities.The results of the study showed that interdisciplinary comprehensive practical activities adopting the 7E teaching model in junior high school biology,focusing on the broad concept of biology and core literacy,the integrated problems were concretized,and the students could flexibly apply their knowledge in real situations to solve practical problems and design and produce biological products,which had enhanced their comprehensive competences such as scientific inquiry,interdisciplinary practice and product optimization abilities,enabling them to have a preliminary awareness and ability of self-career planning.The students achieved comprehensive development through inquiry-based learning.Based on the thinking-based assessment scale,they developed interdisciplinary thinking,problem-solving ability and innovation ability in producing specific biological products,and achieved the purpose of cultivating core literacy.The results of the study provided detailed teaching design,evaluation scale and case reference for front-line teachers who explore and implement interdisciplinary comprehensive practical activities in junior high school biology. |
