Cai’s ancient dwelling complex is one of the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council in 2001,with its grand scale,rigorous layout,carved beams and painted buildings,and the combination of Chinese and Western architecture,which is known as the "Grand View Garden of Southern Fujian Architecture".Cai’s ancient residential buildings reveal the traditional folk art everywhere,and the art and ancient architecture are harmoniously integrated,rich in life interest while conveying the unique national spiritual value.The architectural decorative wood carvings are exquisitely carved,reflecting the traditional social concept of hierarchy at that time,and have symbolic meanings such as warding off evil and praying for good fortune,which have high humanistic and aesthetic values.Based on the discovery and excavation of local folk art resources,this thesis will start from architectural decorative wood carvings and develop them into a local high school art school curriculum with local characteristics to help students gain a deeper understanding of architectural decorative wood carvings as intangible cultural heritage,strengthen students’ artistic literacy and appreciation ability,enhance students’ awareness of the protection and inheritance of excellent Chinese traditional culture,and promote students’ true all-round development..This thesis is divided into four parts and six chapters,the first part(Chapter 1)explains why the study of architectural decorative wood carving in Cai’s ancient houses,introduces the background of Cai’s ancient houses,the purpose and significance of the topic,and investigates the current status of research on this topic at home and abroad,and explains the main research of this thesis.The second part(Chapter 2)is an overview of Cai’s ancient houses and their architectural decorative wood carvings,analyzing their artistic features including craftsmanship,decorative themes,patterns and compositions,explaining their own values and their significance as resources for school-based curriculum development;the third part(Chapters 3-4)is the preparation of the school-based curriculum development,conducting a questionnaire survey and analyzing the results to The fourth part(chapters 5~6)is based on the study of Cai’s ancient residential architecture decorative wood carving and the development and design of the school-based curriculum resources,and the application practice of the school-based curriculum,and the summary and reflection of the practice results through the teaching of the curriculum in the internship school.
