| In the current curriculum reform of compulsory education, interdisciplinary practical activities have received a lot of attention. The Compulsory Education Curriculum Program(2022 Edition)explicitly requires each subject to use no less than 10% of the lesson time of the subject to carry out interdisciplinary thematic learning(practical)activities. To this end,the Compulsory Education Chemistry Curriculum Standard(2022 Edition)(hereafter referred to as the new standard)further optimizes the curriculum system, clearly sets up the learning theme of "Chemistry and Society-Interdisciplinary Practice",and designs 10 interdisciplinary practice activities for teachers to choose from according to the requirements of students’ core literacy objectives. The interdisciplinary practical activities are a new way of learning that integrates the curriculum and practice strategies, emphasizing the integration of the subject knowledge with other subjects, and are a powerful supplement to the teaching and learning of the sub-curriculum.The interdisciplinary practice activities in this study are: an integrated learning activity that analyzes and solves real-world problems by integrating knowledge, skills, methods, and thinking from multiple disciplines in authentic contexts, centered on the research topic of chemistry, through hands-on practice and active inquiry. In this study, after understanding the current status of research on interdisciplinary practical activities and analysis of chemistry teaching materials,we investigated the current situation of front-line junior high school chemistry teachers’ awareness of interdisciplinary practical activities and their needs for teaching materials through questionnaires and interviews, collecting 201 valid questionnaires and interviewing 10 teachers. We learned that the teachers had positive attitudes toward the development of interdisciplinary practical activities, but their understanding of interdisciplinary practical activities was not clear enough and they lacked relevant training and learning, while the development of interdisciplinary practical activities was not smooth due to the pressure of promotion in junior high school, the tight class time and the lack of teaching resources.Based on the results of the survey,a review of the relevant literature identified the content elements needed to conduct interdisciplinary practical activities as: core subject knowledge, interdisciplinary knowledge, interdisciplinary contexts,problem-solving activities, and technical engineering knowledge. The two dimensions of the material analysis were identified as "content elements" and "location of elements".The content elements include core subject knowledge, interdisciplinary knowledge, contextual material, problem and task-oriented,and technical and engineering knowledge;and the presentation locations of the elements are divided into the text, extension sections, and exercises.Based on this textbook analysis framework,we analyze the presentation of the 10 interdisciplinary practical activities in the current R.E.C.and L.E.C.junior high school chemistry textbooks. From the analysis of the textbooks,we found that the current R.E.C.and L.E.C.versions of junior high school chemistry textbooks are available for interdisciplinary practical activities and provide some of the content elements for interdisciplinary practical activities. In addition,Lu’s edition provides more elements for interdisciplinary practice activities and supports interdisciplinary practice activities to a greater extent than the teaching materials in the Humanities edition. On the basis of the above research, suggestions for the preparation of interdisciplinary practical activities in the new textbook and teachers’ teaching suggestions for interdisciplinary practical activities are proposed. |
