Research On The Competency Model Of Tennis Referees In Sichuan Province

Based on the rapid development of tennis in China,many professional tennis events represented by the China Tennis Tour have settled in China.Sichuan Province,as a big economic province in western China,has achieved a qualitative leap in the development of tennis in recent years.It has cultivated outstanding tennis players represented by Zheng Jie,which has driven the rise of the local "tennis boom".The successful holding of ATP250 Chengdu Tennis Open and other major international competitions in Sichuan Province marks the entry of a new era of tennis competitions in Sichuan Province.Tennis referees,as "enforcers" and "managers" in sports competitions,have a direct impact on the level of their rulings.It is particularly important to train referees who are able to serve as senior judges in tennis events.The competency model of tennis referees in Sichuan Province constructed by this research provides a certain theoretical basis for the selection,training and evaluation of tennis referees,in order to improve the referees’ own ability to handle decisions.This study takes the competency characteristics of tennis referees in Sichuan province as the research object,uses the research methods of literature,behavioral event interview,questionnaire survey,mathematical statistics and so on,sorts out and summarizes the explicit and implicit competency characteristics of tennis referees in Sichuan Province in the work of judging,and successfully constructs the competency characteristics model of tennis referees in Sichuan Province.The results show that the competency model of tennis referees in Sichuan province consists of 4 dimensions and 28 competency characteristics.The dimension of professional knowledge includes: tennis refereeing law and competition rules,referee operation procedure,tennis skills and tactics,tournament drawing and arrangement,and there are 4competency characteristics in total.The dimensions of professional competence include: on-the-spot performance,accurate judgment,language communication ability,experience in judgment handling,concentration,adaptability,insight,game reading ability,control of penalty scale,memory,game organization and management,and foreign language proficiency.There are 12 competency factors in total.The dimensions of physical and mental quality include: vision,self-confidence,ability to withstand pressure,physical quality,quick thinking,age,participation motivation,a total of 7 competency characteristics;The dimensions of professional quality include: fair law enforcement,solidarity and cooperation,professional spirit,honesty and trustworthiness,appearance,a total of 5 competency factors.
