Research On The Competence Characteristics And Influencing Factors Of International Table Tennis Umpires In Our Country

Accurately grasping the competency characteristics and influencing factors of China’s international-level table tennis umpires is of great value for improving the effectiveness of the construction of China’s international-level table tennis referee team and the pertinence of personnel evaluation and business training.In this study,the behavioral event interview method was used to construct a competency characteristic model of China’s international-level table tennis umpires,and the exploratory factor analysis method and principal component analysis method were used to obtain the influencing factors of the competency characteristics of China’s international-level table tennis umpires.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The competency characteristic model of China’s international-level table tennis umpires includes 4 core areas of professional knowledge,business ability,personality traits and professional quality,16 main categories such as table tennis competition rule knowledge,basic business ability,personality charm,pragmatic dedication,and 37 categories such as foreign language knowledge,refereeing normativeness,refereeing artistry,and responsibility,and this competency characteristic model can be applied to technical officer selection and job training.(2)The competency characteristics of China’s international-level table tennis umpires include explicit characteristics and implicit characteristics,among which explicit characteristics are mainly manifested in professional knowledge and business ability,and implicit characteristics are mainly manifested in personality traits and professional quality.Compared with China’s national and below level umpires,China’s international table tennis umpires are characterized by deep professional knowledge and strong business ability,more proficient in table tennis competition rules and able to master relevant foreign language knowledge,and the basic business is comprehensive and meticulous,the on-site judgment is timely and accurate,the organization and management are unique and efficient,and the interpersonal communication is tolerant and sincere;The implicit characteristics are unique personality traits and high professional quality,which are embodied in unique personality charm,calm and steady heart,confident and focused attitude,rigorous and meticulous judgment,decisive and courageous judgment,flexible handling,and the motivation to participate in the award,pragmatic and dedicated attitude,fair and just law enforcement and the habit of being good at summarizing.(3)In order of importance,the factors affecting the competency characteristics of China’s international-level table tennis umpires mainly include six common factors:physical and mental adjustment,on-site performance,rule control,special experience,reading competition and event level,which have an impact on the explicit characteristics of umpires such as on-the-spot judgment,organization and management,interpersonal communication,and implicit characteristics such as self-confidence,concentration,calmness,rigor and meticulousness.
