Abstract/Summary:
Juvenile crime has become one of the serious issues currently threatening society. As the future of our nation,it’s crucial to address the problem of juvenile delinquency.Juvenile criminal behavior is a reflection of the juveniles themselves, their families, schools, and societal issues. For juveniles who have committed crimes,it’s difficult for them to get back on track with so many problems at hand relying solely on their own strength. The state advocates using the principles of "education, reformation, and rescue" in the work of care and assistance for offending juveniles.Under professional theoretical guidance, judicial social workers can scientifically apply correction techniques to help offending juveniles address their personal difficulties and problems, guiding them to reintegrate into normal social life and refrain from illegal and criminal activities. This article uses social support theory and cognitive-behavioral theory as guidance, employing case work methods to intervene in the care and assistance work for offending juveniles.Social workers conduct social investigations on the subject in the early stages, visiting the subject’s school and family, analyzing the causes of the subject’s crime, and identifying the subject’s needs for strengthening legal knowledge learning, improving peer group environment, enhancing psychological security, and having more parental supervision.A targeted plan is developed based on the actual needs of the assisted individual.Subsequently, seven assistance sessions were carried out for the subject, including establishing professional relationships, reflecting on the reasons for the crime, enhancing legal awareness, improving the friend-making environment, alleviating fear, promoting family supervision, and reinforcing positive behavior.Eventually, the social worker assisted the subject to successfully pass the observation and assistance examination period. To better test the actual effect of the service, the social worker conducted an evaluation of the service according to the requirements of the internship institution, with the evaluation carried out from three aspects: self-assessment by the social worker, the subject’s evaluation of the social worker, and the service purchaser’s evaluation. The article finally summarizes the effects and process of assistance, with social workers providing professional reflections on four aspects: imperfect system of care and assistance, shortage of judicial social workers and their limited abilities, the role influence of social workers in the assistance process, and the balance between de-labeling and confidentiality principles.
