Urbanization has accelerated the process of social transformation and the frequency of urban and rural population mobility. While giving young people more opportunities for upward mobility and economic income,it also requires the elderly in the family to go to the city to take care of them.Among the old people who migrate to cities to take care of their children and grandchildren, women become the primary caregivers and occupy a dominant position among the old people who migrate to cities because of the traditional Chinese family division of labor, rich maternal experience and delicate emotional traits. In the unfamiliar urban community, they have the triple identity of "migrant","elderly" and "female",but also have the triple disadvantage. It is found that elderly women are faced with a series of environmental maladjustment problems in urban communities, which hinder their own community and social integration, and even gradually marginalized in urban communities. This study focuses on the group of female elderly people living with them.Based on the theory of social integration, social support theory and empowerment theory, this study follows the paradigm of qualitative research and analyzes the problems, causes and needs of the community integration of female elderly people living with them in L community of J City according to the data collected by semi-structured interview and non-participatory observation methods. It is found that the old women living with them are faced with economic, cultural, interpersonal and psychological integration problems in the new community environment.According to the analysis of scholar Lin Nan’s nested system of social support, these integration problems are caused by the lack of inner, middle and outer support for the elderly women who move with them,so they need to be re-socialized at the individual level, emotional support at the family level and opportunities at the social level. On the basis of the survey results, this study adopts the method of group social work to carry out intervention. The intervention practice shows that the content, method and process of group social work are consistent with solving the problem of community integration of the elderly women with them.Group social work method,as one of the three methods of social work, can build a bridge of "individual-community" support interaction for the elderly women living with them through the interaction of behaviors among group members. The group social work process can tap the individual potential of the elderly female migrant workers, help them strengthen their social support network and improve their adaptation difficulties,so as to better achieve community integration. In the future,it is still necessary to continue to enhance the effect of group social work’s involvement in the community integration of the elderly women living with them in the aspects of "linking multiple resources, empowering both inside and outside","integrating service modes, expanding service functions" and "optimizing work skills and improving social work ability",which will improve the satisfaction and happiness of the elderly women living with them in their later years. It is of great significance to promote the harmonious development of urban communities. |
