With the development of economy and society,the issue of special children's education has drawn increasing attention from the state and society.Except those in extremely poor physical condition and cannot go to schools,there are mainly two ways for children with special needs to receive compulsory education.One is to attend classes in ordinary schools and another is to attend special education schools.Generally speaking,special children in ordinary schools suffer from lower degree of disability.While children in special education schools are in need of special education and more care.In order to reduce the burden on teachers and child-care workers in special education schools,the school requires that severely disabled children with poor self-care ability must be accompanied by parents.It undoubtedly increases the burden of families accompanying their children studying at school.Under the guidance of the social support theory,this paper adopts the method of qualitative research.The author conducts in-depth interviews with two teachers and eight parents in the special education school in R county,Jiangsu province.The aim is to understand the status of social support and pressure of the parents accompanying exceptional children studying in special education school.The pretest and posttest results of Chinese Perceived Stress Scale show that the parents feel less stressful after the group activities.According to the results of the survey,it is found that the formal support provided from the government and the social organizations,along with the informal support from the family,friends and neighbors cannot completely satisfy the needs of the parents who accompany their children in special education schools.The author attempts to analyze the needs of them and utilize the method of group social work to assist the parents to link and integrate resources,release emotions and relieve stress.The social worker plays various roles in the group work to provide a platform for the parents to communicate and release emotion.In the group activities,the parents can exchange experience with each other and the social worker help the parents to learn stress reduction techniques and link resources for the parents to meet the needs of information acquisition.
