In the context of building a community of destiny between China and Africa,China and Africa are getting closer and closer. Many African families have come to Guangzhou to seek development, and in this situation,a special cross-border migrant child, the African child in Guangzhou, has emerged. As a new group, the local government has little experience in providing services for African children in Guangzhou, and is prone to neglect the mental health of these cross-border migrant children. In these situations,African children in Guangzhou face great obstacles in developing their psychological capital, which poses a challenge to both the positive development of this group and the maintenance of stability in the local community.By intervening in the psychological capital development of African children in Guangzhou through social work practice,we can effectively help this group to fully understand their inner strengths and explore their potential,so as to guide them to achieve healthy physical and mental development, and to complete social adaptation and self-development and self-growth faster, and on this basis,we will build and maintain a harmonious order in their communities. In this paper, from the perspective of the cognitive-behavioral theory of social work and the "person in context" theory,an experimental and control group of 16 eligible and voluntary African children in Guangzhou was recruited by a social work agency for foreigners. Before the group work intervention,a pre-test of psychological capital was administered to the two groups, and the results showed that the overall psychological capital of the subjects was low to moderate, and their performance was poor in the dimension of resilience. The results showed that the internal factors influencing the level of psychological capital were gender, achievement and attribution patterns, while the external factors were schooling, parenting style and peer group.Subsequently, after analyzing the problems and urgent needs of African children in Guangzhou,a scientific and feasible activity plan was designed and a group work practice intervention was conducted for the experimental group, while no intervention was conducted for the control group. After the intervention,a post-test of the psychological capital of the two groups was conducted, and after multi-dimensional analysis of the pre and post-test data,it was found that the psychological capital of the experimental group improved significantly through the group work intervention, and there was a significant difference between the results of the experimental group and the control group, and the average level of psychological capital of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group. The above group intervention results indicate that it is effective and feasible to intervene in the improvement of psychological capital of African children in the spike through group work. Finally, the study concluded that the feasible strategies to improve the psychological capital of African children in Guangzhou are:(1)governmental level:improve the education system of non-national children in Guangzhou;(2)social worker level:link resources and build a mental health education support network;(3)family level: increase the frequency of parent-child communication and improve parents’ education style;(4)individual level: improve self-cognitive behavior and improve interpersonal relationships.
