As a professional group serving the people, the quality of work of clinical nurses is closely related to the health interests and life safety of the people.Due to the special nature of the working environment and the people they serve, the accusations and misunderstandings of patients and their families,as well as the discrimination and stigmatization of society, psychiatric nurses are subject to increased work pressure, resulting in a lower sense of professional identity and affecting the quality of their work. This study used both qualitative and quantitative research methods, distributing 100 questionnaires and interviewing 10 study participants in Z Mental Health Centre to investigate the problems and causes of psychiatric nurses’ psychological capital, and to provide feasible suggestions for exploring effective intervention strategies for psychiatric nurses’ psychological capital enhancement groups.Based on the previous literature review and research analysis, this study adopted the design scheme of pre-test and post-test of the intervention group and the control group. On the basis of following the random principle,16 qualified psychiatric nurses were divided into the intervention group and the control group according to their wishes.Eight members of the control group only learnt about psychological capital on their own, while eight members of the intervention group participated in group activities. The study classified psychological capital into four dimensions: self-efficacy,optimism,resilience and hope.Based on psychological capital theory, the study combined rational-emotion theory and social-learning theory to intervene in the psychological capital of the group members in four dimensions: selfefficacy, optimism, resilience and hope.At the same time, the Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire(PPQ)was administered to the intervention group and the control group at the same time before and after the group intervention and combined with the evaluations of the social workers and the intervention group members to verify the effectiveness of the group intervention and to conclude the strengths and weaknesses of the group work intervention in enhancing the psychological capital of the psychiatric nurses. The results of the study demonstrated that group work interventions for psychiatric nurses were effective in enhancing psychological capital and had significant advantages in assisting psychiatric nurses to increase their awareness of stress reduction, model learning and rational belief learning. However, working environment,as one of the factors affecting psychological capital of psychiatric nurses, cannot be ignored, and there are obvious differences in the level performance of different individuals in the four dimensions. Therefore, future research should focus on the improvement of the working environment and the differentiation of individual needs,so as to better achieve the improvement of psychological capital.
