On November 12,2019,the central government and the State Council issued the"Outline for the Implementation of Patriotic Education in the New Era" and issued a notice requiring all regions and departments to conscientiously implement it,and to make specific arrangements and deployments for strengthening patriotic education under the new historical conditions from six parts and 34 articles.On January 16,2020,the Party Group of the Ministry of Education issued the "Work Plan for Learning and Propaganda in the Education System",further clarifying the requirements for carrying out patriotic education work in the current education system.In the context of the new era,strengthening patriotism education is an inevitable requirement for achieving the"Chinese Dream",national prosperity,national rejuvenation,and people’s happiness.Starting from the autumn of 2016,with the approval of the Ministry of Education,the People’s Education Press officially renamed the junior high school compulsory education textbook "Morality and the Rule of Law" and began promoting its use in seventh grade.This textbook follows the spirit of the Party,absorbs the latest research achievements in the theoretical field,and keeps up with the development of the times.In response to the fact that young people in the new era are the focus of patriotic education,the course "Morality and the Rule of Law" is the basic course of ideological and political education in junior high school.It has advantages in cultivating students’patriotic emotions that cannot be replaced by other disciplines,and is also the main battlefield for ideological education for junior high school students.The relevant research achievements at home and abroad,as well as the classic theories of Marxism on patriotism education,the important discourse of Chinese people on patriotism education,and the rich resources of patriotism education contained in the junior high school textbook "Morality and Rule of Law" have laid a solid theoretical foundation for strengthening patriotism education in the new era junior high school curriculum "Morality and Rule of Law".However,through investigation,it was found that there are still some problems in strengthening patriotic education in the new era in the junior high school course "Morality and Rule of Law",including shallow and outdated teaching content and a lack of interpretation of the times;Some teachers lack teaching art in their teaching methods;Too theoretical,difficult to resonate with students;The theme activities of patriotism education are not carried out enough,and the form outweighs the effect.In response to these issues,it is necessary to deeply explore and utilize textbook resources,strengthen teacher professional literacy training,improve the effectiveness of patriotism education,emphasize the unity of knowledge and action,improve the carrier of patriotic themed education,and build a scientific and effective patriotic education management mechanism to strengthen patriotism education in the new era of junior high school "Morality and Rule of Law" course.
