Research On The Employment Effect Of Internet Platform Economy

In recent years,the rapid development of the internet platform economy has not only promoted economic development,but also had an impact on the scale and structure of employment.Currently,the number of flexible employment in China has exceeded 200 million,and the development of the platform economy has played a crucial role under employment pressure.In January 2022,various departments jointly issued the"Several Opinions on Promoting the Standardized,Healthy and Sustainable Development of the Internet Platform Economy",which emphasized the need to strengthen the protection of the rights and interests of workers in new forms of employment.In May,the State Council issued a package of policy measures to solidly stabilize the economy,emphasizing the need to fully leverage the stable role of the internet platform economy in employment.The release of these policies has created a favorable environment for the further development of the platform economy.This article takes the Internet platform economy and employment into the same perspective.Firstly,it theoretically analyzes the impact of the Internet platform economy on employment scale,and further examines the impact on the employment demand of labor with different skills and industries.Secondly,an analytical framework and impact mechanism were constructed from an empirical perspective on the impact of the internet platform economy on employment,including the mediating role of industrial structure upgrading and employment quality improvement in the process of the internet platform economy’s impact on employment.Considering the significant differences in the economic development level of internet platforms in different regions,this article empirically studies the heterogeneous impact of regional platform economic development on employment.This has certain guiding significance for exploring the mechanism of the impact of internet platform economy on employment and how to"stabilize employment" and achieve "high-quality employment".Finally,considering the impact of labor supply,study the moderating role of education level in the impact of internet platform economy on employment,and propose relevant policy recommendations.The research results indicate that the internet platform economy has a direct positive impact on the scale of employment,with an expanding effect on high skilled and low skilled labor,a substitution effect on medium skilled labor,and a significant "polarization" feature in the employment skill structure;At the industrial level,it has a destructive effect on manufacturing employment and an expanding effect on service industry employment,resulting in a service-oriented trend in the industrial employment structure.Further mechanism research found that industrial structure upgrading and employment quality improvement played a mesomeric effect.In terms of heterogeneity,this article examines the heterogeneous impact of differences in economic development of internet platforms in different regions on employment demand by setting different dummy variables for the three major regions.Finally,there is a significant single threshold effect in the impact of education on employment in the Internet platform economy.When the level of education exceeds the threshold,the impact of the Internet platform economy on employment scale changes from negative to positive.Based on the theoretical and empirical research conclusions of this article,the following policy recommendations are proposed.Firstly,it is necessary to improve the infrastructure construction of internet platforms and lay a solid foundation for the development of platform economy;Secondly,it is necessary to strengthen the labor security of platform employees and improve the platform operation mechanism;Once again,we need to strengthen the investment in educational resources and create a talent team that adapts to the development of the platform economy;Finally,it is necessary to strengthen supervision and eliminate market issues that arise during the development of the platform economy.
