Along with the aging trend of China’s population,a variety of problems such as advanced age,empty nesting and disablement have seriously affected the traditional family elderly care model.At this time,institutional elderly care ushers in the development opportunity.However,there are many problems in the service of China’s elderly institutions,which affect the quality of life and happiness of the elderly.And the satisfaction of the elderly can effectively measure the institutional services.Therefore,this study takes Lanzhou city as an example,and investigates the satisfaction of the elderly people staying in the institutions and further analyzes the factors affecting the satisfaction and the problems restricting the development of the institutions,so as to suggest suggestions for improving the service quality of the institutions,enhancing the satisfaction of the elderly people staying in the institutions and achieving sustainable development.Based on the preliminary review of data,this study defines the two core concepts of elderly institutions and service satisfaction,and describes the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and welfare pluralism theory on which it is based.The service satisfaction evaluation index system of elderly institutions in Lanzhou City was constructed,questionnaires were designed and hypotheses were formulated.After the questionnaire and interview field research,statistical analysis of the data was conducted.It was concluded that the service satisfaction evaluation of elderly institutions in Lanzhou city was generally between average and relatively satisfied,which was a medium level and there was some room for improvement;Kruskal-wallis H-test was applied to compare the differences in service satisfaction among three types of elderly institutions of different nature,which showed that public and private institutions had the highest satisfaction scores,followed by private and private institutions,and public and public institutions had the lowest scores;t-test,After t-test and one-way ANOVA,it was found that there were significant differences in the overall satisfaction of elderly people with the services of elderly institutions in terms of individual characteristics such as health and self-care status,education level,economic monthly income,marital status,number of children,frequency of weekly visits by children,length of stay,monthly payment,etc.and characteristics of institutions.On the basis of this,a multiple linear stepwise regression model was used to analyze that monthly payment,frequency of weekly visits by children,nature of the institution,and economic monthly income positively affect satisfaction,while health and self-care status and length of stay negatively affect satisfaction level;in-depth interviews revealed that elderly institutions in Lanzhou City have problems such as shortage of operating funds,insufficient supply of medical services,lagging professional construction of service teams,and lack of mental health support services.In-depth interviews revealed that there are problems such as shortage of operating funds,inadequate supply of medical services,lagging professional construction of service teams,and lack of mental health support services.Finally,combined with the results of the empirical analysis,countermeasure suggestions for improving the service satisfaction of elderly institutions in Lanzhou are proposed.Specifically,the government should strengthen top-level design and promote the improvement of related functions;increase financial support and broaden diversified financing channels;enhance the supply capacity of medical services and promote the integration of medical care;strengthen the construction of talent teams and improve the quality and level of staff;pay attention to the psychological health of the elderly and focus on humanistic care and spiritual support;pay attention to individual heterogeneous needs and improve the suitability and refinement of service quality;and precisely Functional positioning,explore new development of integration of various types of elderly institutions.
