The Influence Mechanism Of Corruption Degree In Asia

Corruption governance has become a problem that cannot be ignored in contemporary countries.As one of the regions with the most serious corruption in the world,the governance situation in Asia is polarized.Some of these countries are among the most corrupt in the world,according to data released by many international organizations.Based on the condition that Asian countries have similar cultural backgrounds,this study explores the influencing factors and their combination ways of corruption levels in Asian countries and regions through transnational analysis.Firstly,by reviewing the existing studies,three analytical levels of economy,politics and society were determined,and six representative indicators were selected to construct the analytical framework.Secondly,this study took 36 Asian countries and regions as the research object,collected corresponding data from 1995 to 2017,and used fsQCA(qualitative comparative analysis of fuzzy sets)method to explore the conditions that influence the degree of corruption and their combination and interaction.The results show that economic development has a positive impact on curbing corruption in the long run,and the unbalanced development caused by rapid economic growth in the short term is one of the root causes of corruption.The degree of marketization and the size of the government have a double-sided influence on corruption,and they are closely related.The benign interaction between market order and government regulation is a favorable condition to compress the corruption space.Social development and progress are necessary to curb corruption.The spread of democratic ideas and the expansion of Internet users have also played a significant role in curbing corruption.On this basis,this study concludes four types of influencing mechanisms of corruption,namely market self-discipline,government-led,comprehensively fallen-behind and unbalanced developing.The former two correspond to relatively incorruptible countries,while the latter two represent relatively corrupt countries.Based on the actual needs of China and the above research results,this study gives Suggestions on strengthening the corruption control in China from three aspects:promoting economic development,improving living standards,improving system construction,transforming government functions,strengthening cultural construction,and broadening supervision approaches.
