According to the Emergency Response Law of the People’s Republic of China, emergencies are divided into natural disasters, accident disasters, public health incidents and social security incidents, and unexpected safety accidents belong to one of the categories of accident disasters. The popularity of the Internet and the extensive use of social media have made the emotional spread of unexpected safety accidents more rapid and widespread, and have a profound impact on the public opinion field. Therefore,it is necessary to have a deep understanding of the factors that affect the emotional transmission of sudden security incidents. In this paper, fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis(fsQCA)is used to study the core factors and different combinations of factors affecting emotional transmission in safety emergencies. The method is mainly divided into three operation steps: the first step is to select cases and variables, calibrate conditional variables and result variables according to relevant theories and evidence, and deepen the familiarity of researchers with cases; The second step is data analysis, including the necessity analysis of individual conditions and the adequacy analysis of the condition configuration, and the robustness test of the research results; The third step is to deeply explain and sublimate the analysis results, and dialogue between the research results(conditional configuration)and relevant theories and cases. In this study,5 particularly serious, major, large and general safety emergencies were selected as sample cases from 2017 to 2022,with a total of 20 cases. The specific data of 20 cases were obtained through the "Know Micro Things" platform, and the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis was carried out.By summarizing the existing literature, this study builds an analysis framework for the influencing factors of emotional transmission in security emergencies, extracting the five conditions of accident level, netizen attention, number of important media participation, proportion of central media coverage and government work efficiency from the four factors of incident, netizens, media and government as condition variables, and taking the intensity of emotional transmission in unexpected safety accidents as the result variable. It is found that the level of accidents, the attention of netizens, and the number of important media participation are the core factors affecting the emotional transmission of unexpected safety accidents. After configuration analysis,7 configurations(different combinations of factors)are obtained, which are summarized into five types, namely event type, netizen type, media type,netizen-media type, and event-netizen-media type.At present, the research on the influencing factors of emotional transmission in emergencies is mostly to study the independent role of individual factors on the results. This paper pays more attention to the linkage and synergy of different factors, and supplements and improves the research on the influencing factors of emotional transmission of emergencies. This paper puts forward the following suggestions for the emotional communication governance of sudden security incidents: multi-pronged approach to strengthen the collaborative governance of incident-netizens-media multi-factor;Enhance response effectiveness and improve government accident handling efficiency;Strengthen the guidance of online public opinion and form a diversified emotional governance path.
