The current situation at home and abroad is undergoing profound and complex changes.With the prosperity and development of economic globalization,political,economic and cultural exchanges between countries are becoming more and more frequent.With the vigorous development of Internet technology,the convergence of values and multicultural ideas at home and abroad has brought certain challenges to the domestic ideological security.With the passage of time,the methods of cultivating students’ growth by relying solely on ideological and political courses and knowledge imparting in higher education have become more and more limited and insufficient.In the face of the challenges,General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that ideological and political work in colleges and universities should focus on establishing morality and cultivating people,run ideological and political education through the whole process of education and teaching,and comprehensively promote the work of educating people.to create a new situation for the development of higher education in our country.English,as a communicative language widely used in the world,has become one of the compulsory courses for contemporary college students.According to the characteristics of College English course with wide coverage and long class hours,it can come into contact with rich cultural,political and ideological exchanges and collisions between China and the West in the process of learning,so it is particularly important to guide them correctly in teaching.it is particularly important to improve college students’ judgment of right and wrong.At present,this study investigates and analyzes the current situation of ideological and political practice of College English course in Dali University by means of questionnaires,interviews and listening investigation.As a new concept of educational reform,curriculum ideological and political education is still faced with many difficulties and problems in the process of implementation,there is no general consensus within colleges and universities,students’ understanding and acceptance of curriculum ideology and politics is low,and curriculum ideological and political teaching mode is rigid.The evaluation and assessment mechanism is not perfect,the students’ participation enthusiasm is low and so on.Based on the experience and practice of promoting curriculum thought and politics in Dali University,this paper discusses the connotation of curriculum thought and politics,the relationship between curriculum thought and politics and the necessity and feasibility of curriculum thought and politics in College English.This paper objectively analyzes the achievements and existing problems in the ideological and political practice of College English course from four aspects: the use of teaching materials,curriculum construction and practice,teachers’ implementation and students’ sense of acquisition.this paper puts forward the corresponding countermeasures from strengthening the top-level design of the school,attaching importance to the communication between courses,improving teachers’ professional accomplishment and enhancing students’ sense of acquisition.Establish a long-term ideological and political mechanism of College English course in Dali University,promote the normalization of ideological and political education,constantly optimize ideological and political teaching,innovate and develop a new height of ideological and political education.
