Ancient Chinese poetry is an important part of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.On the one hand,the intonation and rhythm of ancient poems help learners practice phonetic intonation and improve their Chinese listening,speaking,reading and writing skills in the process of recitation;on the other hand,ancient poems have profound meanings and full of emotions,and learning ancient poems can help learners understand the spirit and cultural elements of classical Chinese literature.Teaching or promoting the reading of ancient poems in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages can help stimulate students’ interest in Chinese culture and improve their Chinese language proficiency.Bayu ancient poetry is a rich cultural teaching resource,and ancient poetry has become an important material for teaching regional culture because of its richness of texts and diversity of topics and perspectives.However,ancient poetry materials in international Chinese language teaching are generally underdeveloped,and the exploration of regional ancient poems is even rarer.Based on the perspective of regional culture,this paper will sort out the overview of Bayu’s ancient poems,summarize the value of Bayu ancient poems for international students,and analyze the arrangement standards and styles of 13 general ancient poetry readers for native Chinese readers and those for international students to summarize the basic ideas and requirements for the preparation of the readers.Taking Bayu ancient poems as the starting point,we discuss the ideas and specific layout design of Bayu ancient poetry books for middle-and senior-level international students,and conduct a trial editing of one of the sample poems.This paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter discusses the background to the chosen topic,the relevance of the study,the research methodology and current research on the teaching of Ancient Reading in academia.Chapter 2 summarizes the overview of Bayu ancient poems from the perspective of regional culture and sorts out the special value of Bayu ancient poetry reading books for international students.It can present Bayu culture from multiple angles from a regional perspective,become a rich material for cultural teaching of middle and senior international students,provide the most direct cultural context for international students,and enhance the innovative characteristics of school-based curriculum materials to a certain extent.Chapter 3 analyzes six regional ancient poetry books for domestic readers and seven ancient poetry books for international students,summarizing the overall overview of the books and sorting out the situation of the books in terms of writing style,poetry text and regional cultural integration.It is concluded that the ancient poetry books for Chinese readers are arranged in different ways,with a large volume and certain innovation;the ancient poetry books for international students are arranged mainly in dynasties or in a thematic way,and the regional culture is involved but does not become the main line of the books,and the regional ancient poetry books are scarce.Chapter 4 discusses the idea of writing Bayu ancient poetry reading books,concludes that the preparation of Bayu ancient poetry reading books should follow the basis of science,relevance,fun,and practicality,and arrange them according to the characteristics of Bayu ancient poetry,and uses them to guide the writing practice in Chapter 6.In chapter 6,the study constructs the framework of the reading book and tries to compile one of the sample poems of the reading book to explain the organizational structure and the style of the ancient poems.Chapter 7 concludes with a summary of the whole text and an overview of the shortcomings and reflections.
