As one of the representatives of Chinese classical culture, ancient poetry is deeply loved by learners both domestically and internationally; It is not only the focus of cultural teaching, but also the difficulty of Chinese language learning. Many learners find it difficult to understand the famous lines of ancient poetry in textbooks when learning Chinese culture, and therefore cannot explain the meaning of the lines. This undoubtedly requires the use of annotations to help understand. However, there is almost no research on annotations in international Chinese education ancient poetry textbooks, and there is a lack of research in this field in the academic community. Therefore, this article focuses on the annotations in the International Chinese Education Ancient Poetry Textbook-"100 Classical Chinese Poems with Chinese-English Interpretations" as the research object. This article consists of six chapters,as follows:The first chapter is the introduction section, which studies and analyzes the current research status of international Chinese education ancient poetry textbooks,as well as the compilation of annotations in ancient poetry textbooks. The second chapter defines the meaning of annotations on ancient poetry and elaborates on the functions of annotations.Chapter 3 provides an overview and analysis of the selected research material-"100 Classical Chinese Poems with Chinese-English Interpretations" with detailed explanations from six aspects: introduction, table of contents, layout design, chapter introduction, poetry works, and appreciation.Chapter 4 proposes to organize the annotations in ancient poetry textbooks. It analyzes the annotations in the textbooks from three aspects: interpretation language, interpretation content, and interpretation methods. It is found that the annotation layout is clear, the annotation content is complete, and the interpretation methods are diverse. At the same time,it is explained that there are shortcomings in the annotations in poetry textbooks, such as the lack of corresponding native language translation, the high level of Chinese character proficiency in the annotation content, and the limited cultural content involved in the annotations.Chapter 5 is a questionnaire survey, analyzing the use, content, and format of annotations on ancient poetry in international Chinese classrooms.Based on investigation and analysis,it is proposed that the annotation of ancient poetry should be mainly written in modern Chinese, supplemented by native language translation;Standardize the use of words for interpretation;Based on the outline, with appropriate content, precise interpretation, and adherence to principles. Finally, this article summarizes the main viewpoints and shortcomings of the author in the conclusion section. The author hopes that the teaching content of ancient poetry and its annotations can attract the attention of international Chinese teachers, and at the same time, hopes that this study can provide reference for the annotation writing and teaching of ancient poetry textbooks in future international Chinese education, and also provide some reference for future researchers.
