This article is an English-Chinese translation practice report. The material is selected from Effortless: Make It Easier to Do What Matters Most by Greg Mc Keown. The book was published by Currency Press in New York,USA in April 2021.The book consists of 15 chapters and conclusion. The translator chooses the second part(Chapters six to ten)for translation, with a total of about 12,000 English words. The second part focuses on the specifics of effortless action: DEFINE,START,SIMPLIFY,PROGRESS,and PACE.The translated material excerpts mainly include establishing standards for completion of important matters, drawing micro-energy from taking the obvious first step, and setting a light-paced action pattern in the planning process, which helps readers with effective time management. The translation material is an informational text about improving time management, and the language is concise and professional. This translation report is divided into four parts: the first part is an introduction to the translation project, including the content and significance of the project. The second part is the description of the translation process, including pre-translation preparation, initial translation and post-translation proofreading. The third part is the analysis of translation examples, including the use of the domestication of words, the translation of parallelism, and the translation of complex sentences. The translation compensation strategy runs through them. The fourth part is a summary of translation practice, which is the translator’s gains and prospects in this practice.Looking back on the entire translation process, the translator deeply understands that the quality of the translated text is closely related to the translator’s own comprehension, expression and adaptation. In order to better convey the original text information, translators need to continuously improve their professional quality and expand their knowledge.
