In the Internet era, digital connectivity is a hot topic.Compared to the awareness of the benefits of the digital age, there is relatively little awareness of its drawbacks, and even less translation research in this area. Therefore, this report chooses to study the E-C translation practice of Chapter 5 in the book The Attention Deficit--Unintended Consequences of Digital Connectivity.Chapter 5 systematically explains and analyzes the impact of streaming technology development on the transformation of entertainment.Based on the features of the original text and in combination with Yu Chengfa’s Complete Translation Methodology, the report reflects on and summarizes the application of the three principles and seven methods of Complete Translation, hoping to provide a reference for more translators. The report consists of five parts: task description, theoretical feasibility analysis, process description, case analysis, and conclusion.Among them, the case analysis is the core,in which the translator mainly analyzes the translation from the three levels of achieving pragmatic value, expressing linguistic meaning and keeping linguistic form, combined with the seven methods of Complete translation, namely, transliteration, amplification, omission, transference, substitution, division, combination.Based on the analysis of typical cases, the following conclusions are drawn: firstly, translation of pragmatic texts differs from literary translation in that the change in linguistic form does not affect the communication of the message between the original and the translation, therefore, the three principles of Complete Translation of “pragmatic value first, linguistic meaning second and linguistic form third” is highly operable in translation;secondly, the seven methods of Complete Translation are complementary to each other, and there is no superiority or inferiority, but there is a difference in the frequency of use according to the characteristics of the text;finally, there is no one-to-one correspondence between the principles and methods of Complete translation, and translators should apply them flexibly. All in all,the comprehensive use of the seven basic methods under the three principles of Complete Translation can help improve the quality of translation of information-vocative texts. At the same time, this report can further enrich the related research on text translation and translation methods in the related fields.
