Abstract/Summary:
The world is now experiencing the power of blockchain and exploring what role blockchain can play in the field of energy.China also attaches great importance to the development and application of the blockchain technology in the energy sector.In this context,the translation strategy research of blockchain related cutting-edge sci-tech texts is of great significance.Under the guidance of the principle of “pragmatic value first,meaning second and form third”,the author analyzes the typical sentences in the paper Blockchain Technology in the Energy Sector: A Systematic Review of Challenges and Opportunities published on Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews,an international authoritative journal in the field of renewable energy,using complete translation methods of equivalent translation,addition translation,reduction translation,mobile translation,exchange translation,split translation and fusion translation.Texts related to energy technology have the following characteristics: more and newer proper nouns,more long sentences which are difficult to translate,and easy sentence patterns and words.So,is it feasible to follow the principle of complete translation during translation of such texts? What specific translation methods are feasible under the theory of complete translation? Which translation methods do the three principles of complete translation theory correspond to respectively? Are there any general rules? To answer those questions,the author comes to the following conclusions.According to the order of “pragmatic value first,meaning second and form third”,the translator should first determine the actual and potential readers,and consider whether the style,expression mode and ideology of the translation can be accepted by the target readers in the translation of texts in energy science and technology.Then,the meaning,or the content,should be accurately conveyed in the idiomatic form of the target language.Finally,if retaining the original form does not affect the pragmatic value and meaning of the translation,the translator should retain the original form;otherwise,the form should give way to the pragmatic value and meaning of the translation.Besides,in the translation of texts in energy science and technology,the seven translation methods under the complete translation theory are all operable.There are many technical terms in such texts,so the equivalent translation method of word and phrase is used most.In addition to technical terms,long and difficult sentences are also common in such texts,so the use frequency ofsplit translation and fusion translation is also high.Due to the great differences in collocations and expression mode between English and Chinese,the methods of addition,reduction,mobile and exchange translation are often used in the translation of texts in energy science and technology.Under the guidance of the three principles of complete translation theory,the comprehensive application of various full translation methods can help to improve the translation ability and enhance the quality of translation.At the same time,this report can further enrich the research on the translation of texts related to cutting-edge technologies as well as strategies for translating texts related to energy blockchain technology.
