| Since "A Bite of China" was broadcast on CCTV,the creation boom of food documentaries has not faded.But the phenomenon of creating food documentaries began to move towards a new stage.More and more Chinese food documentaries present a large number of audio-visual feast for the audience.Based on this research background,this paper takes four documentaries as the main research objects: A Bite of China,Once Upon a Bite,The Story Of Chuaner and Breakfast China.Based on the theories and perspectives of visual rhetoric,this paper discusses the content presentation,visual rhetoric methods,meaning construction and reflection of visual rhetoric practice of Chinese food documentaries.By sorting out the development process of Chinese food documentaries,this paper finds that the emergence of A Bite of China in 2012 has injected new vitality into the food documentary market.Its story-oriented narrative techniques and civilian narrative perspective have made the documentary into the public’s field of vision and won hot discussion and praise.Since then,more and more food documentaries have emerged.From the beginning,it covers the characteristic food and food culture of different parts of the country,and then subdivides it into a certain region or a certain type of food,presenting diversified themes.Through the visual rhetoric method of narrative form analysis and image language analysis,the paper finds the meaning generation logic of food documentary,and analyzes the meaning construction of food documentary on this basis.Finally,this paper summarizes and reflects on the research findings,and puts forward some suggestions for the practice of visual rhetoric.Studies have found that by comparing four food documentary visual rhetoric method,it can be seen that most of Chinese food documentary through object narrative,the plot narrative,historical narrative space and narrative show the food culture,and so on the many kinds of narrative form in the application of image language,through the analysis of the visual layout of the picture,colour is tie-in,Jing Bie,camera movement way,the use of voice language,etc.,It reflects the visual metaphor,hint and symbolic meaning of the documentary,that is,the construction of visual rhetoric meaning of food documentary is reflected in three aspects: it implies the harmonious symbiotic relationship between human and nature as well as between human and human;Humanistic care for workers and labor behavior;The collective memory of cultural code weaving deepens the understanding of social culture.Rethinking the current practice of visual rhetoric in food documentaries,the research suggests that food documentaries in the future need to strengthen the awareness of visual rhetoric,but should not blindly pursue visual stimulation and economic benefits,still need to pay attention to the transmission of mainstream values,deepen social identity,and assume the social responsibility of documentary. |
