Business Chinese Test(BCT)is an international standardised Chinese language proficiency test that focuses on the communication ability of candidates whose first language is not Chinese.Moreover,teaching textbook not only serve as the basis for classroom teaching,but also as the foundation for learners’ independent learning.The quality of texts in textbooks has a direct impact on the effectiveness of teaching and learning.Therefore,this paper is written based on the textbook BCT Standard Course and BCT(A)test questions to investigate the compatibility between the business Chinese textbook and the BCT(A)exam.This article is divided into seven main chapters:Chapter 1 is an introduction,divided into five subsections,which outlines the reasons for choosing the topic,the purpose and the significance of study,the content of the study,the current development and the methodology of the study.Chapter 2 provides an introduction to the BCT Standard Course and the BCT examination,outlining the background to its development,the philosophy behind its development and the syllabus.Chapter 3 examines the vocabulary in the BCT Standard Course and the BCT(A)exam questions,using quantitative analysis as well as comparative analysis to study its vocabulary,difficulty level and recurrence rate.It is found that the coverage of the vocabulary syllabus of textbook is more satisfactory,the recurrence of both are quite reasonable.A large number of compound words based on the textbook are found in the real questions.Chapter 4 summarizes the distribution of grammar points in the textbook and the BCT(A)test.Analyzes the grammar points in the textbook and the exam questions,using the latest international Chinese grammar level syllabus as a reference.The result shows that both of them have a good match with the syllabus grammar points,both reaching over 90%.However,according to the content,the BCT(A)text mostly examines the detailed grammatical sub-categories of the main grammatical categories of the textbook.Therefore,teachers need to expand their knowledge of the grammatical points when teaching grammar.Chapter 5 is a study of the matching between the textbook and the BCT(A)exam.The textbook does not have a large number of exercises,and the type of questions in the post-course exercises does not match the type of questions in the exam,so it needs to increase the number of exam-related questions to familiarise learners with the exam and to achieve the goal of "learning for the exam".Chapter 6 summarises the strengths and weaknesses of the analysis in the previous five chapters.Several suggestions are made for the development and teaching of the BCT Standard Textbook from the perspectives of vocabulary,grammar and exercises.Suggestions for development of textbook includes:(1)combined with the vocabulary of the exam questions,scientifically set the vocabulary from the text;(2)based on the content of the exam,expand grammar point;(3)based on the questions type of exam,enrich post-lesson practice questions.Teaching suggestions include:(1)teaching vocabulary based on synthetic words with emphasis on morphemes;(2)teaching grammar based on building a system of business domain knowledge;(3)increasing unit tests according to the training exam questions.Chapter 7 summarises the full research results,we also identifies shortcomings and carries on the self-reflection according to the insufficiency.
