A Comparative Study Of Listening Test In Business English Certificate Vantage And Business Chinese Test(B)

Business English Certificate(BEC)and Business Chinese Test(BCT)are authoritative proficiency tests.As a special-purpose language test,the word "business" distinguishes these two tests from the basic language tests.BEC has been welcomed by students all over the world and recognized by well-known enterprises for many years.As a business examination,BCT was the later one which has many areas that need to be improved.This study will make a comparative analysis of the listening part between BEC Vantage and BCT(B).The study is divided into seven chapters,and the key chapters are chapter 3 and Chapter 4.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the research purpose,significance,research status and development trend at home and abroad.The second chapter is the overview of BEC and BCT,which introduces the language testing theory and the syllabus of the two exams.The third chapter is the comparison between the old and new version of BCT from the examination composition,question type and question quantity.The fourth chapter is the comparison between BEC Vantage and BCT(B)listening test,from the types of questions,listening materials and question options.Chapter five compares the reliability and validity of BEC Vantage and BCT(B)listening questions.Chapter six puts forward optimization suggestions for BCT(B)proposition design,listening material selection and question bank construction.Chapter seven is the conclusion of the comparative analysis of BEC Vantage and BCT(B)listening test and the shortcomings of this paper.Through the research,compared with BEC Vantage,BCT has some problems,such as the lack of authenticity of recording and professionalism of listening text,the impact of short text on test validity,the single type of listening questions and the unscientific grade division.I hope that this research can provide some help for the improvement and development of business Chinese examination.
