| The Integrated Project Delivery(IPD)was created to address the needs of modern construction projects with lean processes and complex relationships, and to eliminate the inefficiencies,over-budgeting and delays exposed by traditional project delivery methods.IPD emphasizes the collaborative use of the knowledge and capabilities of all participants to optimize project outcomes, add value for the owner, reduce waste and maximize efficiency in all phases of design and construction. The relationship quality(RQ)among participants directly determines the extent to which IPD coordination and collaboration are achieved. However, the RQ among participants in the collaboration process can change over time due to external factors such as corporate culture and the distribution of benefits. This can affect the achievement of project cost, schedule and overall objectives. Therefore,it is necessary to study the evolution of the RQ among participants to improve the relationship, enhance their awareness of cooperation and synergy, and promote the successful implementation of the IPD mode. The IPD participant relationships present specific characteristics of high complexity. To solve this problem, this paper proposes to analyze the connotation of the RQ among participants in IPD and its evolution based on the supply chain theory.Considering that the IPD involves many participants such as the owner, designer, contractor, supervisor and consultant, and requires the involvement of various participants with different functions and characteristics to collaborate in the early stages of the project. Therefore, this paper uses similarity theory to define the research subjects as owner, designer and contractor, which simplifies the complexity of the research while ensuring correctness.Based on this,an evolutionary model of the RQ among participants in IPD,including the owner, the designer and the contractor,is constructed by combining evolutionary game theory. The evolutionary equilibrium strategies under different situations are obtained by solving this model. Then, the stability of the above equilibrium points was verified using MATLAB2020 a software. Finally, numerical simulations under different scenarios were set up to explore the influence of participants’ initial intentions and major factors on the RQ,and analyze the evolutionary trend of the RQ among participants in IPD.The results show that: the RQ among participants gradually increases with the progress of the project under certain conditions until a stable and high-quality cooperation is formed; The initial intention of the participants, the cost of positive supervision by the owner, the allocation coefficient of incentives and penalties for the participants, and the size of the incentive pool are important factors affecting the RQ among participants.Accordingly, policy recommendations are proposed to improve the RQ among participants from the perspective of the owner, providing a theoretical basis and practical guidance for the smooth implementation of IPD. |
