In recent years,China’s automobile R&D investment has increased year by year,technology has made continuous progress,innovation has accelerated,and the scale of automobile production and sales has continued to expand.In 2021,China will produce 26.082 million vehicles,accounting for 32.5% of the world total;The sales volume of automobiles is 26.275 million,accounting for 32.8% of the total sales volume in the world,cultivating the world’s largest automobile consumer market.The global value chain of the automobile industry(GVC)refers to the process of increasing the value of automobile products from R&D to service.The position of the value chain reflects whether a country’s automobile industry can obtain high added value,and further reflects the position of the country’s automobile industry in the development of the global automobile industry.Due to the weakness of China’s automobile industry,such as late start,relatively low R&D investment,and single service mode,the global value chain of China’s automobile industry is at the low-end manufacturing link.Digital economy refers to a series of economic activities that use digital knowledge and information as key production factors,modern information network as an important carrier,and effective use of information and communication technology as an important driving force for efficiency improvement and economic structure optimization.The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that we should speed up the development of the digital economy,promote the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy,and create a digital industrial cluster with international competitiveness.In the current general environment,we will infiltrate the elements of the digital economy into the automobile industry,improve the construction of the digital economy infrastructure to reduce transaction costs,improve the development level of the digital economy to promote production efficiency,strengthen the application level of the digital economy to optimize production services,so as to obtain high added value,get rid of the plight of China’s automobile industry that has been in the low-end link for a long time,and promote the global value chain position of the automobile industry to climb.Therefore,it is of great significance to deeply analyze the impact of digital economy on the global value chain status of China’s automobile industry.The thesis includes three parts: introduction,five chapters and conclusion.The first part introduces the background and significance of this study;The relevant documents on global value chain,factors influencing the global value chain status of automobile industry and the impact of digital economy on global value chain are sorted out;The contents,methods,technical routes and innovations of this thesis are pointed out.The first chapter of the text introduces the global value chain and its position,the global value chain of the automobile industry and the relevant concepts of the digital economy;At the same time,it points out the theoretical basis of this study.The second chapter of the text analyzes the development status of China’s automobile industry and the status of China’s automobile industry in the global value chain.The third chapter of the text expounds the logical mechanism of the digital economy affecting the position of the global value chain of China’s automobile industry,including the current situation of China’s digital economy development and the three dimensions of the digital economy affecting the global value chain of China’s automobile industry: digital infrastructure,digital economy development level,and digital economy application level.The fourth chapter analyzes the specific impact of digital economy on the global value chain position of China’s automobile industry.According to the availability of database data,this chapter adopts the method of combining quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis,selects three types of indicators highly related to and representative of the development of digital economy,establishes an econometric regression model,and conducts an empirical analysis on the impact of digital economy and other relevant factors on the position of China’s automobile industry in the global value chain in2002-2014.Then,based on relevant materials and data from 2015 to 2020,the thesis qualitatively analyzed the impact of digital economy on the global value chain position of China’s automobile industry,thus making up for the lag in database updating.The fifth chapter of the text puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to accelerate the development of digital economy and promote the global value chain position of China’s automobile industry,which is the purpose of this thesis.The third part is the research conclusion.Research findings:(1)According to the "smile curve" theory,the overall development level of China’s automobile industry is weak from the four aspects of research and development,production,sales(import and export),and post market services.The digital economy,through its impact on production,services,transactions and other aspects,has promoted each link of the value chain in the "smile curve" and helped to improve the position of China’s automobile industry in the global value chain.(2)The empirical results show that R&D investment has a promoting effect on the global value chain status of the automobile industry.Increasing investment in automobile R&D is beneficial to China’s automobile industry to obtain high added value and continue to climb up the value chain.(3)The embedding of digital economic factors has a significant role in promoting the global value chain status of China’s automobile industry.Among them,the construction of digital economy infrastructure has the greatest impact on the promotion of GVC’s status,the impact of digital economy application level is in the middle,and the impact of digital economy development level is relatively small.
