A Study On The Impact Of Digital Development On The Global Value Chain Position Of China’s Equipment Manufacturing Industry

At present,China’s economic development model has shifted from focusing on speed to focusing on quality.The digital economy,with its many advantages such as high efficiency,wide coverage,and low cost,is boosting China’s economic transformation and development.Exploring the impact mechanism of digital development on the division of labor position in the global value chain of China’s equipment manufacturing industry is conducive to improving the efficiency and level of the transformation and development of the equipment manufacturing industry promoted by the digital economy,and has great significance for achieving high-quality development of China’s economy.By analyzing the development process and main characteristics of digital development and global value chain,and constructing digital development indicators from four dimensions: infrastructure,industrial development,application integration,and development environment,this paper measures the digital development index of China’s equipment manufacturing industry and the division of labor status of China’s equipment manufacturing industry in the global value chain,and discusses its development status in detail.In terms of theoretical analysis,digital development can have an impact on the division of labor in the global value chain of the equipment manufacturing industry from the production level,trade level,and industrial structure level,as well as on the division of labor in the global value chain through the intermediary effect of the digital development of the equipment manufacturing industry.In terms of empirical research,using panel data from eight sub sectors of China’s equipment manufacturing industry from 2011 to 2021,the comprehensive FGLS model,instrumental variable method,and intermediary effect model were used to verify the causal relationship and impact mechanism between digital development and the division of labor in the global value chain of the equipment manufacturing industry.The research results show that: first,digital development has a significant positive impact on the division of labor position in the global value chain of China’s equipment manufacturing industry;Secondly,the three dimensions of infrastructure,application integration,and development environment in digital development have a positive impact on the division of labor in the global value chain of equipment manufacturing industry,but the industrial development dimension does not have a positive impact.Thirdly,the direct investment of digital products and services in the equipment manufacturing industry has a inhibiting effect on the improvement of the division of labor position in the global value chain,while the integration and application of advanced production factors such as digital technology,management methods,and organizational structure in the equipment manufacturing industry will promote the improvement of the division of labor position in the global value chain.Based on the analysis results,the following suggestions are proposed: The government should improve the support policies for digital development,strengthen the construction of digital talent training system,and promote the integrated and innovative development of the digital economy and equipment manufacturing industry;Enterprises should actively cultivate digital development thinking,empower their innovation capabilities with digital technology,promote their transformation to an open collaborative innovation model,and improve their value acquisition capabilities,so as to better empower China’s equipment manufacturing industry to climb the division of labor in the global value chain.
