The aging population is an inevitable result of social development to a certain extent, and China entered it 20 years ago. With the decline of physical function in the elderly, walking has become an important way for the elderly population to maintain physical function and restore health. In addition, walking is still a commonly used mode of transportation for elderly people in China. Therefore, conducting research on pedestrian friendliness from the perspective of aging has certain significance. However, relevant research in China mostly focuses on destinations such as parks and public spaces in residential communities,as well as the pedestrian space environment of residential areas. There is a lack of in-depth research on the type of community street space that connects residential areas and destinations. Therefore, this article chooses to study the pedestrian friendliness of community street space from the perspective of aging. This article establishes a pedestrian friendliness evaluation index system based on the framework of "target layer constraint layer indicator layer".Firstly, through literature review, the evaluation dimensions of pedestrian friendliness were determined to be convenience, safety, and comfort.Based on this, the six major needs of the elderly for street space were clarified by interpreting their individual characteristics.Secondly, based on relevant research results, the commonly recognized pedestrian friendly evaluation factors for street space in the academic community have been compiled. Finally, through the analysis of coupling, the corresponding evaluation factors of convenience, safety and comfort are identified, thus forming the evaluation index system of this thesis.Based on the evaluation index system, this article first organizes and describes objective environmental characteristics from the perspective of built environment, using POI data, image data, and field research. The SD semantic difference method was used to quantitatively analyze the spatial evaluation of six streets by the elderly in the individual perception dimension. From the perspective of data comparison and synthesis: the data from these two dimensions were first normalized using data standardization, and then compared.Next, the normalized subjective and objective dimensional data were comprehensively stacked, and the weights were calculated using the entropy weight method. Finally, the weighting operation was performed to obtain the comprehensive score of street walking friendliness. The empirical research results are as follows:(1)In the dimension of built environment, the environmental attribute information contained in some indicators is presented in the form of graphics, text,or tables, providing practical basis for the transformation of built environment.(2)In the dimension of individual perception, weaknesses were found in the existing six community street spaces Through the comparison of subjective and objective dimensions of data,it was found that: a.increasing the proportion of greenery visible within the visual range has a very significant and direct effect on improving the good feeling of greenery among the elderly.b.Street view image technology cannot accurately reflect the elderly’s perception of the level of motor vehicle congestion, and the overall perception of congestion in the existing community street space is much higher than the actual situation.c.It is not reasonable for streets to blindly increase the number of facilities in a certain street when optimizing indicators such as infrastructure density, bus convenience, and public security agency density. The improvement of this indicator should be considered from the perspective of block radiation layout.d.The perception of a certain aspect involves many factors, and environmental transformation should not solely consider a certain indicator. It should start from the factors directly related to it and cover as many related factors as possible,in order to achieve more significant experience effects In the dimension of data synthesis,a comprehensive evaluation of pedestrian friendliness at specific locations of each street was obtained, providing a decision-making basis for the priority level of street renovation.
