Urban Renewal-Jinan Huayuan Community Area 1 Renewal Design Study

In March 2021,the "Outline of the 14 th Five-Year Plan and 2035 Vision of the National Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China" was released in full,clearly proposing the strategy of "implementing urban renewal actions",pointing out that the path of urban construction and development should be innovated as soon as possible,and urban planning,construction and management should be better integrated.Urban renewal in the new era is an action to improve urban governance by implementing the "people-oriented" development concept,of which the renovation of old neighborhoods is an integral part.As a concrete manifestation of the contradiction between people’s need for a better life and unbalanced and insufficient development,the problem of old neighborhoods is connected to urban development and people’s well-being at one end.It not only has an important impact on optimizing urban space and improving urban quality,but also has a close relationship with improving people’s quality of life,making up for shortcomings,expanding domestic demand and strengthening the construction of new urbanization.This project is presented in the form of "graduation design",with the theme of renewal and transformation of old neighborhoods,taking Jinan Huayuan Community Area 1 as the research and design object,and using literature analysis,field research,questionnaire survey,diagram analysis and practical design as the main methods.Based on adequate theoretical,policy and case studies,we summarize and analyze the current problems and residents’ willingness to transform Jinan Huayuan Community Area 1 based on the research results,and propose corresponding renewal strategies and design solutions with theoretical support of urban renewal concepts such as organic renewal,urban double repair and future community.It is hoped that while constructing a universal strategy suitable for the current stage of China’s old neighborhood renewal practice,the future development of urban renewal theory and future community living patterns will be further explored.Firstly,we summarize the background of China’s urban renewal development,related theories,excellent practice cases and the latest domestic urban renewal policies,so as to consolidate the basis of the research and design,and at the same time,we propose several principles for the selection of the research and design objects,and further identify the Jinan Huayuan Community Area 1 as the specific research and design object.Secondly,with sufficient preparations,we conducted field research and interviews with the residents of Huayuan Community Area 1 to summarize the current problems of the district in terms of road traffic,built environment,municipal facilities,public facilities and landscape and greenery,as well as the residents’ willingness to renovate and suggestions on specific renovation and upgrading contents.At the same time,based on the research results,a task book for the renewal and renovation of Huayuan Community Area 1 was formulated to lay the foundation and clear direction for the subsequent renewal design guidelines and programs.Finally,based on the results of the previous study,we introduce the relevant urban renewal theories and policy documents,absorb the excellent practice cases,and propose a feasible and replicable renewal strategy and design plan for the three major renewal elements of "basic","improvement" and "upgrading" in Huayuan Community Area 1."Based on the results of the previous study,we introduce relevant urban regeneration theories and policy documents,incorporate excellent practical cases,and propose feasible and popularized regeneration strategies and design solutions for the three major renovation and upgrading contents of Huayuan Community Area 1,so as to explore a more comprehensive and sustainable regeneration idea and draw corresponding experiences and inspirations for the renovation of old neighborhoods.
