Research On Renovation Strategy Of Old Residential Areas From The Perspective Of Community Empowerment

At present,China’s urban development has gone from incremental space expansion to the stage of improving the quality and efficiency of inventory space.Under this background,as an inventory renewal mode of old urban residence zones,the renovation of old residential areas realizes the reconstruction of social relations through space transformation,cultivates the main force,and finally realizes the community co-construction,sharing,consultation and co-governance.In recent years,owing to the vigorous promotion of policies from the national to local governments,the transformation of old residential areas has shown a comprehensive development throughout the country.The concept and theory of community empowerment originated from the research and practice of urban governance in the west in 1970 s.It refers to the government handing over greater participation and decision-making power to the community so that the community can truly participate in social public life as the subject of rights.Its focus is to promote the participation of individuals,organizations and communities,so as to achieve the goals of improving individual and community control ability,governance efficiency,community life quality and social justice.And similar or related empowerment ideas have always been reflected in the practice of urban construction and grass-roots governance in China.Such cases are mostly implemented in the form of local policies or implementation measures.In this thesis,the author takes the renovation of old residential areas as the research object,and tries to sum up the feasible community empowerment realization strategies in line with the characteristics of China’s social system and development by combining theoretical analysis with practical summary,aiming at exploring more and better paths for the high-quality promotion of urban renewal and the promotion of grass-roots social governance.This thesis is divided into four parts according to the structural framework of “basic research-problem analysis-case study-empirical study”:(1)Basic research stage: to analyze the research background,put forward the research purpose and significance,define the research object,and determine the research method and route.In addition,to summarize the related research on the transformation of old residential areas at home and abroad,put forward empowerment and other basic theories for research,and build a theoretical system of community empowerment in the renovation of old residential areas.(2)Problem analysis stage: to review the three development stages of the old residential area renovation in China,sum up the present characteristics of the old residential area renovation,explain the predicament of the old residential area renovation.(3)Case study stage: At this stage,draw out the general situation of Huangshigang District and the background of the old residential area renovation.And through the whole process analysis of three different types of typical old residential area renovation cases in Huangshigang District,the thesis summarizes the specific performance of empowerment thought in the current old residential area reconstruction practice,and discusses the shortcomings,thus providing a reference for the renovation strategy of Nanjing Road community.(4)Empirical research stage: From the perspective of community empowerment,the thesis analyzes the current situation and residents’ situation of Nanjing Road community through data collection and field investigation,puts forward the transformation goal and promotion ideas,and formulates empowerment strategies from the three dimensions,that is space,economy and policy.
