The "Beijing Urban Master Plan" and the "Capital Functional Core Area Regulatory Detailed Plan(Block Level)" propose to focus on the overall protection and urban development of the old city of Beijing, and continuously optimize the living environment in the context of shifting from incremental development to a new model of stock optimization. The traditional streets and alleys in the old city,as one of the important components of Beijing’s old city and its living environment, have become the focus of optimizing and improving the existing space. The effectiveness of the renovation design of the street facades directly affects the shaping of Beijing’s unique style and urban image, which is of great significance for the sustainable development of the city. However, although there have been many design projects for the renovation of traditional street alleys and alleys along the streets in the old city of Beijing in recent years, and most of the design results are worthy of recognition, due to different understandings of the value of historical urban street elements, the amount of funds for street renovation is limited, and the complexity of property rights and evacuation work is significant. There is a process of investment attraction for building reuse,Multiple practical factors have led to many methodological issues in remediation design. After the renovation of streets and alleys, they have taken on a new look and lack the protection and preservation of historical elements;Or perhaps the streets and alleys have formed an antique street with a strong commercial flavor;Or perhaps the facade of trendy internet celebrity buildings jumps out, causing problems with style coordination, and so on.These issues can be seen as the lack of in-depth research on the history of streets, alleys, and alleys in the industry’s renovation design,as well as the tradeoffs between the preservation and renovation of new and old buildings, which have affected the retention of design objects, the scale of renovation design, and the scientific implementation of the renovation design. This has led to the above-mentioned negative phenomena in some traditional streets, alleys, and alleys, and has had an impact on the protection of the traditional style of the old city. Therefore, this article hopes to systematically carry out research on the design methods for the renovation of traditional streets, alleys, and alleys in the old city of Beijing, analyze the content and process of the design methods, optimize and propose a more scientific design method for the facade renovation of streets, alleys, and alleys in historical and cultural blocks based on the original design methods, and provide technical support for future protection of the old city. This article studies the theoretical and practical cases of street and alley renovation design both domestically and internationally, and sorts out relevant urban design, block design guidelines, and policy regulations in Beijing. It conducts research on multiple traditional street and alley renovation design projects in the old city of Beijing, and summarizes the current problems in renovation design. On this basis,a targeted and refined renovation design method for streets, alleys, and alleys in historical and cultural blocks based on deep historical research and on-site research is preliminarily constructed.Taking six important traditional streets and alleys in the Guanyinsi area of the Dashilan Historical and Cultural District as examples, practical research is conducted to explore historical and cultural resources through detailed historical research and summarize their comprehensive value; In on-site research, the facade elements are analyzed at three levels: architecture, facilities, and green landscape.Based on regulatory requirements and current situations, four classification methods for building renovation are proposed: protective repair, restorative construction, coordinated updating, and facade organization, making the design process more scientific and refined. At the same time, with the goal of improving the quality of the spatial environment, the design methods and experiences for the facade renovation of streets and alleys in the Guanyinsi area have been summarized, achieving the continuation of historical context and distinctive features. Finally,on the basis of practice, the above two design methods are compared, optimized, and improved, and a scientific method suitable for the facade renovation design of streets and alleys is summarized, providing suggestions and reference basis for future projects of this type. The main content of this article consists of five parts: Chapter 1 is an introduction, including research background, research purpose and significance, research content and methods, relevant research progress at home and abroad, including theoretical research and practical cases at home and abroad,as well as a review of relevant regulations, regulations, and guidelines in Beijing.Chapter 2 is an investigation into the current situation of the facade renovation of traditional streets and alleys in the old city of Beijing, pointing out the shortcomings of the current traditional street and alley facade renovation projects. The third chapter is the construction of traditional methods for the facade renovation design of streets, alleys, and alleys.Relevant historical research is conducted in depth for the facade renovation project, using a combination of literature collection, map research,on-site research, and oral history research methods. The research content takes into account both material and non material aspects, and the survey data is summarized and visualized to objectively and clearly reflect the current situation of buildings in the area.Propose the principles and objectives that need to be followed in the renovation design. The renovation methods for building facades can be divided into protective repairs, restorative construction, coordinated updates, and facade organization.Subdivide them into elements and propose specific design points.Chapter 4 is the practice of the facade renovation design of the six alleys and alleys in the Guanyinsi area.It conducts in-depth historical research on the area and alleys and alleys, conducts thorough and detailed research on the current situation, sorts out the research information and analyzes the problems, and finally conducts the renovation design and achievement display of the street facade.Chapter 5 is the conclusion, which summarizes and prospects the research.
