The Construction And Significance Of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway In The Early Period Of The Founding Of The People’s Republic Of China

In the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Central People’s Administration Council agreed and approved the report of the Southwest Military and Political Commission on the request to build the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway in order to promote the economic and social development of Sichuan,guide the southwest region and consolidate the national defense of the motherland.Under the direct leadership of the Southwest Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,centralized deployment of various resources to promote the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway.This is the background of the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway.Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China,the active support of all sectors of society in China,and the concerted efforts of the army and the people,the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway was successfully started on June 15,1950,until July 1,1952.In just two years,the railway was completed and opened to traffic and a grand opening ceremony was held in Chengdu and Chongqing at the same time.It has realized the railway dream of Sichuan people for more than40 years.With a total length of 505 kilometers and 62 stations,the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway starts from Chengdu in Sichuan Province in the west,passes through Ziyang,Zizhong,Neijiang,Longchang and other 16 counties and cities before arriving at Chongqing Station,traversing the center of the province.As the first newly built railway of the People’s Republic of China,the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway will inevitably encounter many difficulties and challenges.In the process of solving these problems and smooth construction,it fully demonstrates the outstanding leadership of the Communist Party of China,the superiority of the socialist system of the People’s Republic of China and the wisdom and strength of the broad masses of the people.The successful completion and opening of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway has promoted the prosperity and development of the Sichuan and Chongqing areas,improved the lives of the people there,strengthened the border defense in the southwest of China,and won wide recognition from the people in the southwest,especially in Sichuan Province.At the same time,Chengdu-Chongqing Railway,as the "opening of the mountain" in the construction of the railway framework of the People’s Republic of China,created a new period in the history of railway construction of the People’s Republic of China,laid the foundation of Sichuan railway traffic network,but also accumulated valuable experience and lessons for the railway construction of the People’s Republic of China.On the basis of absorbing the existing research results of the academic circle,by further digging historical materials,this study briefly describes the historical background of the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway,analyzes the construction course of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway and the important problems encountered during the period and their solutions,expounds the completion of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway and the response from all walks of life,summarizes the basic experience and reflection of the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway.The historical status and function of building this important traffic route are summarized.
