The Revelation Of New Urbanism To Our City Old Residential District Renewal

Based on the acceleration of China`s urbanization process and the situation inthe social transition, this study started from the renovation of urban old community,learned and analysed New Urbanism ideas and practical experience in order toexpand the theory and method of old community renovation in the urbandevelopment.First, the author studied New Urbanism particularly, analysed its background anddevelopment, also expounded its mission target and core thought. In the first chapter,this study introduce two major kinds of New Urbanism developing modes and theirfeature、methods and practice example. Some design opinion and main characteristicsof community part would be summarized to guide following study.In the second chapter, this study reviewed the development of contemporaryurban community and analyzed its stock in order to understand the general situationclearly. After investigating the current situation, major problems in urban oldcommunities could be found, and then, the renovation requirement would besummarized which means the key of solution.Based on the study results above, the author discussed how to use NewUrbanism for reference to guide the renovation development of our country urban oldcommunities. Objective judgment for New Urbanism was necessary. And then,combined our requirement and New Urbanism, the author summarized someimportant development revelation for urban old communities, which means thefoundation of following renovation strategy.In the last part, this author proposed the theory frame of structural strategy forurban old community renovation, and explained its design opinion. Structural strategyfor urban old community renovation was a systematic framework, combined withspace structure renovation、function structure renovation and humanity structurerenovation. This study gave emphasis discuss and explain for each structurerenovation, then made introspection summarily, and looked into the distance in theend.
