The advent of stock planning and high urban housing prices have led to the popularity of rental housing, but the many contradictions in the traditional rental market and the pursuit of quality housing by tenants have made reform of the rental market urgent. At this time, youth flats have become an important component of the rental market due to their affordable prices, openness of information, unified decoration and good property services, which cater to the consumer attitudes and lifestyles of young people. However, young people living in flats have the characteristics of high density, small living space, high work pressure and low wealth accumulation due to the short period of employment, which makes them vulnerable to mental ill-health.Due to the hilly terrain, bicycle transportation in Dalian is not well developed, and the commuting method of young people is mostly to walk to the nearest transportation hub and then take public transport to work, which is a linear route at least twice a weekday. The impact of the spatial environment on the psychological well-being of the residents is continuous,long-term and potential, and has a large potential to be optimised and modified. From the perspective of urban design,a comprehensive evaluation of the spatial environment of the commuting and walking section of youth flats is carried out, based on which a strategy for optimising the spatial environment of the commuting and walking section to suit the psychological needs is proposed, with the aim of optimising the design of the spatial environment of the walking and commuting section of youth flats,in order to provide a useful exploration for the improvement of the positive psychological state of the youth renters in the flats. The thesis is divided into the following three parts.Firstly,a review of domestic and international research and related research theories is presented, and the concepts of positive psychology, commuter walking space environment and youth flats are explained.Secondly, the evaluation system for commuter walking spaces is constructed. The logical structure of the evaluation method is discussed, and the evaluation indicators are selected, quantified and weighted.Through the analysis of youth commuting activity places, four evaluation elements are selected: public service facilities, open space, street walking space and neighbouring residential areas, and combined with the theory of positive psychological intervention, the 15 indicators under the elements are screened out,and the weights of the indicators are obtained by means of hierarchical analysis combined with expert scoring to construct the evaluation system of commuting walking space.Three youth flats, namely Dayou Youth Commune,Linglong Residence in Tiandi Software Park and Zhongshan District Talent Apartment, were selected for the empirical study, and their location, land use, current situation of public service facilities and youth groups renting them were investigated, and the evaluation factors of their 15 indicators were quantified and analyzed respectively to evaluate their commuter walking space environment. Finally,a strategy for optimising the commuter walking space environment is proposed and an optimisation design is carried out.According to the optimisation objectives and principles, the commuter walking space environment optimisation strategy is constructed. The above-mentioned spatial environment optimisation strategies are applied in this case to create a commuting spatial environment that promotes positive psychology among youth groups.
